COMEDY WRITER Andrew Nicholls performs + signs "AS MAN IS TO GOD." | Lyric Hyperion Theater & Cafe
May 10, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
City of Los Angeles
Andrew Nicholls,
il miglior fabbro
of the precisely calibrated gag, lets loose with a rollicking tale in verse as astonishing in its foolhardiness as the film shoot it chronicles. Reading
As Man Is To God
is like watching a master jeweler carve Mount Rushmore. We stare wide-eyed as the maniacal miniaturist brings off his magnum opus, one deft, hilarious touch at a time. The result is every bit as thrilling and endlessly revisitable as Herzog’s
Fitzcarraldo
, a rousing tribute to the folly and genius of our species.

What To Do When You Kill Your Co-Star | The Butterfly Club
May 12, 2025 (UTC+10)ENDED
Carson
A financially and creatively bankrupt acting troupes’ production of Romeo and Juliet goes horribly wrong when their Romeo dies three acts early. In order to save their troupe from jail, or worse, being exiled from the theatre, the troupe must lie, scheme, and “yes, and” their way into the cover up of the century. Wednesday 14th will be a sensory friendly show Thursday 15th, masks are strongly encouraged. In order to make the theatre accessible for immunocompromised and audience members with disabilities, we ask all patrons who are able to wear a mask for the show on Thursday the 15th do so. FAQs What time should I get there? At least 30 minutes before the show. Our performances start bang on time and it takes a hot second to welcome you into the building. Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? The Butterfly Club is a licensed venue. Accordingly, patrons under 18 are only allowed on premises in the company of a parent or legal guardian. What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event? We strongly encourage using public transport. The Butterfly Club is a short stroll from Flinders Street station and Melbourne Central, and an even shorter stroll from any tram that travels through Swanston or Collins Streets (get off at Town Hall). How can I contact the venue with any questions? Please call The Butterfly Club on 03 9663 8107 or reply to your email confirmation. What's the refund policy? All sales are final: exceptions are made in extraordinary circumstances at the Club's sole discretion. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No. Our team have a record of all attendees updated in real time and will be able to let you in whether you bring a printed copy of your ticket or not. Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends? Yes. It happens all the time. It's totally fine.

"Aerospace & Defense M&A Perspectives" - LA | Kroll Century City Offices
May 15, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
City of Los Angeles
"Aerospace & Defense M&A Perspectives”
Panelists:
Moderator: Steve Moon (Deputy Head of M&A, Americas, Co-Head Aerospace & Defense Investment Banking, Kroll Investment Banking)
Nic Janneck (Partner, Vance Street Capital)
Brian Zaumeyer (Founder, New Aero Capital)
Brian Williams (CEO, Frazier Aviation International)
Join the Aerospace & Defense Forum – Los Angeles Chapter for an engaging panel discussion on the current state of M&A in the Aerospace and Defense sector. Hear firsthand from some of the most active investment bankers, private equity investors, and industry executives as they share their perspectives on recent deals, current trends, and the outlook for A&D transactions.
The Aerospace and Defense industry continues to navigate a dynamic landscape shaped by supply chain disruptions, workforce and production challenges, and now the potential impact of tariffs. In commercial aerospace, demand for air travel remains strong, though the sector remains cautious amid tariff-related uncertainties under the Trump Administration. Meanwhile, geopolitical tensions have global defense spending on the rise — even as the Trump administration proposes 8% annual budget cuts to the Department of Defense over the next five years.
When will the commercial aerospace industry finally recover and get back to pre-pandemic production levels?
Will A&D companies continue to drive deal activity and further consolidate the sector despite these headwinds?
What segments of A&D are actively being traded and which segments are on pause?
We’ll answer these questions and more as we focus on the latest trends in commercial aviation, defense, space and other emerging market opportunities, and how these developments are expected to influence mergers and acquisitions over the next 12-24 months.

You'll Meet The Inhabitants That Never Left...
Experience the long-buried tales of Victorian terror that have chilled souls for over a century as you walk along a fog-shrouded trail through haunted mansions and abandoned homes and into a world where the veil between life and death is perilously thin in this immersive encounter with Victorian terror.

Don't miss your chance to experience this once-in-a-lifetime event. A truly unforgettable evening where the stories come to life around you and haunt your dreams forever. Experience Victorian Horror Like Never Before at
Victorian Horror Stories in the Dark!
THIS IS JUST SOME OF WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE:
Dr. Blackwood's Spring-Heeled Beast
Step into Dr. Blackwood's gaslit parlor and witness a scholar's descent into obsession as he reveals his bone-chilling encounter with Spring-Heeled Jack, the metallic-toothed terror of Victorian Los Angeles whose supernatural abilities and grotesque form have become the fuel for nightmares.
The Vampyres of Bannerworth Manor
Become entangled in the forbidden love triangle at Bannerworth Manor, where William desperately clutches a blessed wooden stake while Clara, bearing the marks of immortal passion, stands torn between mortal devotion and Viktor's seductive promise of eternity—a vampire who knows that forever is not romance but a prison of endless night, in a haunting encounter that will force you to question which existence truly constitutes damnation.
The Widow of Thornfield Lane
Follow Constable Crawford into the decaying halls of Thornfield Manor, where reclusive Eleanor Sheffield's thirty-year vigil conceals shocking truths about dancing lights in empty windows and children's laughter where none should exist—a rare encounter that traps you between two worlds as vengeful spirits, denied justice in life, refuse to rest until you bear witness to their long-silenced story.
The Curse of The Forsyth Mummy
Step warily into the grand Forsythe Estate where auctioneer Phineas Clark guides you through rooms of cursed treasures—from Amazonian shrunken heads to Tibetan artifacts—his scholarly detachment barely masking his growing unease as you encounter firsthand why some exotic collections were never meant to be disturbed, a spine-chilling revelation that forces you to question what ancient vengeance awaits those who ignore the warnings of distant tombs.
The Victorian Trail of Terror
Your spectral guide Victoria will take you through fog-shrouded paths as she reveals LA's most chilling spectral residents—from the whispered railroad disaster of 1883 to Victorian tragedies seeping from the Arroyo Seco soil—in a spine-chilling nocturnal expedition through moonlit gardens and shadowy church grounds that forces you to confront what lurks in history's darkest corners and why some melodies should never be answered.
The Witch's Circle
Step into the misty darkness where Undertaker Salem beckons you into a forgotten realm of Victorian supernatural mysteries, as thirteen torches cast eerie shadows across ancient symbols while he reveals long-buried secrets and demonstrates arcane practices dismissed by rational minds for centuries. While the circle is a sanctuary, once you leave it, we make no promises.
PLUS: The Victorian Spirit Bar & Delicious Tacos
Indulge in a selection of beer, wine, and signature drinks alongside delicious tacos from our taco bar and snacks thoughtfully curated to complement your supernatural journey—offering momentary comfort as you navigate the unsettling Victorian darkness.

May 16, 2025 (UTC-8)ENDED
North Hollywood
HEALTH & SAFETY: WE ASK THAT YOU PLEASE WEAR A FACE MASK WHILE INDOORS FOR OUR EVENTS. THANK YOU. Writers Bloc presents a celebration of fiction from The New Yorker: its first 100 years. With fiction editor Deborah Treisman and George Saunders, and readings by actors. For 100 years, we have turned to The New Yorker for deep investigative reporting, broad profiles of those in politics and culture here and abroad, indisputably the best cartoons on the planet, humor, arts criticism, and more. It simply set the standard for excellence. For 100 years, its fiction has been a touchstone in the field of international letters. In celebration of the magazine’s 100th year, The New Yorker has published a huge trove of short stories that graced its pages, often launching the careers of some of the superb novelists and short story writers of our time, and of another, earlier time. Isaac Bashevis Singer. Shirley Jackson. Annie Proulx. J.D. Salinger. Saul Bellow. Philip Roth. And so many more, including George Saunders, and stories published recently. How to choose the lucky stories that made the cut? Deborah Treisman, the fiction editor of The New Yorker, edited the glorious new book, A Century of Fiction in The New Yorker: 1925-2025. She and novelist George Saunders discuss the magazine’s stories and the selection process. Actors will read a few selections from this beautiful book. Actors to be announced. Limited parking onsite. We recommend rideshares and carpooling. Please allow time to find parking. Did you know that you can make a fully tax-deductible donation? As a nonprofit organization, Writers Bloc Presents relies on support from people like you. Help us to remain a strong community as we continue to celebrate literature by authors we love, and explore critical contemporary issues. Please donate here. No refunds or exchanges on tickets or books. Books must be picked up on the night of the program.
