Tricia Creason-Valencia will be leading a one hour workshop on Writing an Artist Statement. Tricia Creason-Valencia is a dynamic force in the world of filmmaking, education & community building. Through the art of storytelling, Tricia weaves her own raw narrative of mothering, making movies, resilience and rediscovery. She believes, deep in her soul, that truth-telling fosters empathy and connection, serving as a catalyst for social change. Alyssarhaye Graciano will be leading a one hour workshop on Writing an Artist Resume/CV. Born and raised in San José, Alyssarhaye Graciano is a trilingual fiber artist and painter. Once a linguistic specialist in the tech industry, she left her day job to pursue a career in the arts. While she mainly knits and crochets, painting, sewing, macramé, and weaving are also parts of her art practice. Today she works as the Visual Arts Curator at MACLA in San José, CA. Alyssarhaye continues her art practice through installations, pattern design, workshops, and exhibitions. OverviewWhether you're intersted in creating your own personal merchandise or fine art posters, this hands on workshop will explain the process in detail so that you can add this versatile medium to your creative arsenal. Individuals will learn the fundamentals of screen printing and image creation while printing with water based ink using a table press. Imagery appropriate for this class includes, photography, graphic art, handmade illustration, or a combination of the two. It is highly encouraged for Students to bring in images for reference! TINY ROOM POERTY SERIES CAST Mahogany L. Browne, a Kennedy Center's Next 50 fellow and MacDowell Arts Advocacy Awardee, is a writer, playwright, organizer, & educator. Browne received fellowships from All Arts, Arts for Justice, Air Serenbe, Baldwin for the Arts, Cave Canem, Hawthornden, Poets House, Mellon Research, Rauschenberg, Wesleyan University, & UCross. Browne’s books include Vinyl Moon, Chlorine Sky (optioned for a play by Steppenwolf Theater), Black Girl Magic, and banned books Woke: A Young Poet’s Call to Justice and Woke Baby. Founder of the diverse lit initiative Woke Baby Book Fair, Browne currently tours Chrome Valley (highlighted in Publishers Weekly and The New York Times) and is the 2024 Paterson Poetry Prize winner. Mahogany L. Browne holds an honorary Doctor of Philosophy degree awarded by Marymount Manhattan College, and is the inaugural poet-in-residence at Lincoln Center. Originally from San Francisco, Tongo Eisen-Martin is a poet, movement worker, and educator. His latest curriculum on extrajudicial killing of Black people, We Charge Genocide Again, has been used as an educational and organizing tool throughout the country. His book titled, Someone's Dead Already was nominated for a California Bookstore Award. His book Heaven Is All Goodbyes was published by the City Lights Pocket Poets series, was shortlisted for the Griffins Poetry Prize and won a California Book Award and an American Book Award. His latest book “Blood On The Fog” was released this fall in the City Lights Pocket Poets series and named one of the New York Times poetry books of the year. In 2020, he co-founded Black Freighter Press to publish revolutionary works. He is San Francisco’s eighth poet laureate. Destiny Muhammad is a Recording/Performing Artist | Band Leader |Composer & Producer. Her genre is cool and eclectic with a feel of Jazz & Storytelling to round out the sonic experience.
