Wednesday 4th June 2025 Booking slots: 11am - 12pm / 12pm - 1pm / 2pm - 3pm / 3pm - 4pm '' by Edinburgh based artist Jamie Fitzpatrick is the third of three Outer Spaces commissions opening in Glasgow, spring 2025. We are excited to present a bold programme of newly commissioned works by artists Sooun Kim, Greer Pester, and Jamie Fitzpatrick. Selected from the Outer Spaces network of studio holders, this is a unique opportunity for the artists to make new, ambitious work in response to one of our most historic spaces. Responding to the former Clydesdale banking hall at 31 St Vincent Place, Glasgow, these works explore the building’s symbolic relationship to power, stability, and prosperity—qualities embedded in the fabric of this iconic Victorian structure. At the same time, the artists engage with the building’s current, transitory state, where past and present converge. The works will be revealed to the public through a series of pop-up events throughout the spring of 2025, offering a dynamic exploration of the site’s rich history and its shifting role in the present. Margaret Macdonald and Charles Rennie Mackintosh: Partners in Life and Art? | Hunterian Art Gallery

Arts Fine Art
“In all my architectural efforts you have been half if not threequarters in them …” – so wrote Charles Rennie Mackintosh to his wife, Margaret Macdonald, the year before he died. But what can we really know about the nature and extent of the couple’s creative partnership? Some early critics saw Macdonald as a damaging influence, tainting Mackintosh’s ‘modernism’ with her sinuous Art Nouveau decoration. More recently, she has been claimed as an equal but unacknowledged partner in her husband’s work, a woman unjustly sidelined by the male-dominated art establishment. Forming an objective view of Macdonald’s and Mackintosh’s respective roles is difficult, hampered by a lack of contemporary documentation. In this talk, Joseph Sharples, Curator of Mackintosh Collections at The Hunterian, will consider the extent of their collaboration and the character of their artistic partnership, drawing on a range of evidence from their own lifetimes. Followed by a Q&A. This event can be attended in person at the Hunterian Art Gallery or online via live stream. Those attending the in-person event will have the opportunity to see some examples of Margaret's work in our Main Gallery, and refreshments will be served. Join us for an unforgettable evening filled with uplifting music, testimonies, and an encouraging message from Pastor Brian Pettrey. The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir began with only nine members in a small rundown building in a difficult area. Carol Cymbala, ministering alongside her husband, Pastor Jim Cymbala, had no formal training, but growing up as a pastor’s daughter in a musical home, she had absorbed the sounds of many cultures, and the Lord had put into her heart the dream of one day directing a large choir. Today the popular Grammy Award–winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, comprised of men and women of all ethnic and national origins, continues to be used by the Lord to sing the gospel in the inner city of New York as well as domestically and internationally. Central to its ministry is a continual emphasis on prayer and worship of the Lord Jesus Christ. Tickets are offered through local churches on an each one bring one basis. We are delighted to be partnering with The Brooklyn Tabernacle Church, who is committed to the Church in Scotland by heavily supporting the event financially to make tickets available to as many as possible on a subsidized basis. We know life can get busy. Don't forget to spend time making new friends! Why do city life alone when you can build your community with us. This project is to host dinners in 200 cities to combat loneliness while supporting locally owned businesses. Each month, dinner is held at a different restaurant. These dinners are not directly associated with the restaurants, but are simply based on a table reservation. This micro-event is intended to be for 4-6 people maximum. If the evening you signed up for does not hit the minimum number of signups, please be open to joining us on another night with a fuller group. Check out our feature in Eventbrite's 2025 TRNDS report about embracing the micro-event trend. Watch our feature in a news segment on Nashville's Fox 17! How does it work? After you register, you'll be emailed an introduction message including a quick questionnaire regarding age, hobbies, and interests . *Your registration does not include your individual food and drink purchases. A paid ticket simply makes you more committed to actually showing up. *Sign up one time, and you'll join our database to be invited to all dinners for the rest of 2025 for free! *These outings are intended to help people make friends . These are not singles gatherings . *If you sign up the day of the gathering and do not get a welcoming message from us in time, simply email ermantourageimpact@gmail.com, request a refund, or please be open to joining us on another evening.
