Do not put it off any longer! Join Leatherstocking Firearms Training on Saturday, July 12th and Sunday, July 13th for the New York Pistol Permit Pre-licensing class. This class is approved and satisfies the training requirements to get a concealed carry pistol permit in Oneida, Herkimer, Madison, Chenango, Otsego, Schoharie and Delaware Counties. Class will cover all required topics promulgated in NY Penal Law section 400.00(19)including:
Application process
General handgun and ammunition knowledge & safety
Safe storage
Basics of marksmanship
De-escalation and conflict avoidance strategies
Overview of applicable NY and Federal law (safe storage requirements, traveling with firearms, prohibited locations, and use of force, etc)
This class will also include multiple opportunities to get hands on training including:
loading and unloading various types of handguns
holster work
dry firing
Class will conclude with a 50 question written exam and a shooting qualification. The live fire portion will be conducted on site with non-lethal UTM Target Shooting Ammunition. This specialty ammunition simulates the live fire experience without having to travel to a range (firearm, ammunition, targets, shooting glasses and hearing protection are all provided).
Additionally, upon completion of the New York requirements, and at no extra cost, students may elect to complete the Utah Non-Resident CCW class requirements. This brief supplemental presentation covers the Utah law related to conceal carry of firearms. Fingerprinting services and Utah application will be provided. The Utah Non-Resident CCW permit is recognized by over 30 states, and has a turn around time of less than 60 day.
Students are required to bring photo id, note taking materials, bagged lunch (plan on a "working lunch"), drinks/snacks, and should wear a sturdy belt for attaching a holster.
Due to demand and space limitations class fees are transferable but not refundable. *Please Note* this is a two day class which starts at 8 am and ends at 5 pm each day. Students MUST complete both days of class, get an 80% or better on the written exam, and pass the shooting qualification in order to receive their certificate.
