Join CPC in tidepooling, enjoy a complimentary snack, and then join us for the Trail Party! This is an excellent and fun way to give back to the Cape Perpetua Area. REGISTER FOR TIDEPOOL EVENT HERE!! (clickable link) Project Information: We will be doing tread maintenance (improving the trail surface) using shovels and other digging tools. We will work at a gentle pace, enjoy the forest landscape, and take some time for lunch. Hiking information: We will meet at the Neptune State Park Scenic Viewpoint north parking lot before we cross the highway to get on the trail. We will hike to our worksite, about 3/4 to 1 mile in. There are some ups and downs along this trail, about 50 - 100 feet of elevation gain. There is no restroom at the trailhead. Closest ones are a 1/4 mile north at the Cape Pereptua Visitor Center or 1/4 mile south at the Neptune South parking lot. You should plan to participate in this trail party for its entirety. For safety reasons, please do not arrive late or expect to be able to leave early. Event details: Detailed event information, including directions to the meeting location, will be provided to registrants via email 48 hours prior to the event. If you're volunteering for the first time, read this blog by a volunteer to know what to expect at your first trail party. What to bring: Plenty of water Snacks/lunch Work gloves if you have them (loaner gloves available) Any medications or emergency supplies you may need Sunscreen + insect repellent A pack to bring all of this with you on trail TKO provides all tools and personal protective equipment (hard hats, gloves, glasses) Need gear? The primary objective of this meticulously designed class is to equip both novice and experienced shooters with the knowledge and skills needed to handle their rifle or Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC) safely and effectively. To fully participate in this enlightening event, attendees are required to bring their own rifle, which can be either a PCC or MSR platform with a minimum barrel length of 8 inches. It is crucial that the rifle is equipped with iron sights or an alternative sighting system such as a "Red Dot" sight, prismatic sight, LPVO, etc. Additionally, the firearm must be chambered in an intermediate or pistol cartridge, such as 5.56/.223, 5.45x39, .300 BO, 7.62x39, 5.7x28, 9x19, 10mm, .40 S+W, or .45 ACP. It is recommended to have a sling on the rifle for optimal performance. Participants are required to bring a minimum of 2 standard capacity (20-30 round) unloaded magazines for the Basics class. "On-Person" magazine pouches are highly recommended but pockets can suffice if necessary. Eye and ear protection are mandatory for the safety of all participants. Moreover, it is advised to bring a minimum of 30 rounds of ammunition in a box, with 60 rounds of range ammunition being preferable. Please refrain from loading your magazines before entering the classroom, as they will need to be unloaded.
