Join the UFIFAS Women's Fishing Workshop in Brooksville, Florida, to expand your knowledge of fish and recreational fishing in the state. Specifically designed for women, this two-day workshop offers insights into both saltwater and freshwater fishes and recreational fishing. The event will take place at the UF/IFAS Extension Hernando County, located at 16110 Aviation Loop Drive, Brooksville, FL 34604.
On Thursday, November 2, 2023, the workshop will commence with a warm welcome and introductions at 9:00 am. Throughout the day, participants will have the opportunity to learn Fish 101, engage in dissections, master knot tying, enhance fishing skills, explore the art of Gyotaku, and more. Lunch break will be from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm; however, lunch will not be provided. The day will conclude with a dismissal at 3:00 pm.
The following day, Friday, November 3, 2023, the workshop will continue at the FWC Bass Conservation Center, located at 3583 Co Rd 788, Webster, FL 33597. The day will start with a tour of the Bass Conservation Center at 9:00 am, followed by an opportunity to fish in the facility's ponds. Please note that this will be freshwater fishing conducted outdoors. The workshop will conclude at 12:30 pm with a dismissal.
To participate in the activities, a registration fee of $35 is required, covering workshop supplies and fishing equipment. Please note that transportation and food will not be provided. Pre-registration is necessary for this non-formal workshop, and if any disability accommodations are required, please contact the UF/IFAS Extension Hernando County Office at least ten business days prior to the course start date.
