Changchun will once again blow the "Nordic style", the Vasa International Ski Festival, galloping through the snowy forests and experience the passion of speed!
The Vasa International Ski Festival has been established for a hundred years and is the world's oldest and largest long-distance cross-country skiing event. In the early sixteenth century, Sweden was forced to form a national alliance with Denmark. Gustav Vasa called on people to resist the rule and oppression of Denmark, during which people sought help from skiers. In the end, Gustav Vasa successfully led the Swedes to unify the kingdom and became the King of Sweden. In 1922, journalist Anders Pierce initiated an annual 90-kilometer ski race to commemorate Gustav Vasa's achievements, and the Vasa Ski Festival was born.
With the continuous development of the Vasa Ski Festival, on March 15, 2003, the Vasa International Ski Festival officially settled in Changchun Jingyuetan. China became the fourth country to host the Vasa Ski Race after Sweden, the United States and Japan. The cross-country ski track of China's Vasa extends through the undulating mountains and dense forests of Jingyuetan, and is therefore called "the most beautiful cross-country ski track in the world" by the International Ski Federation.
