Dance of the Seven Veils Workshop Dance of the Seven Veils WorkshopWelcome to our Dance of the Seven Veils Workshop! The Dance of the Seven Veils was part of the teachings of many ancient cultures. The Goddess Ishtar descended from her heavenly throne into the underworld, removing her fine raiment along the way. After her mission in the underworld was done, she ascended. As she ascended, she again adorned herself in robes and jewellery as she passed through the seven gates back to heaven. A similar journey was taken by Goddess Innana and the Goddess Isis. Later, in the teachings of Plato, this journey from heaven to the underworld and back became transformed into the journey from One Source of Being to this incarnational plane and then back again after death. This journey through the spheres of the heavens and back was later adopted by Gnostics and Hermetic practitioners. In this workshop we will explore the mythology and philosophy behind the Dance of the Seven Veils. We will then look at how we can use the dance to transform our own psyche. Then we will perform the dance for ourselves, using veils, sound and chant.
