Behrang Karimi | Morena di Luna

May 31–Sep 7, 2025 (UTC)
Hove
Exhibitions
Karimi uses a range of methods, including monotypes, wood- and linocuts and gouache; combined, they create a lively dialogue between the artist and his work. Landscapes and views are often merely hinted at – humans are the true heart of Karimi’s work, appearing as portraits, in classic poses, as lying and seated nudes, alone and in groups. The room around them is diffuse, sometimes suggested by a doorway flooded with light, other times by another person appearing at the edge of the picture. Two people face one another, rigid as statues, separated by a light expanse of color, of water? His figures seem delicate and brittle, as does the scenery they move within. They all portray small episodes within a unique moment – like the worm crawling towards the apple – that disappear almost before we have fully grasped their significance.

C TURTLE | Green Door Store

May 4, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Brighton and Hove
Rock
Concerts
C Turtle C Turtle are one of those bands whose sound people can’t seem to pin down. Mercurial and moody, theirs is a protean kind of oozing fuzzy-jumper rock that’s as much about slickly spun lyrical poetry and unfiltered emotion as it is fractal riffs and howling feedback whines yapping at their heels. The London band's latest album, Expensive Thrills, unfurls a handsome union of existential reflection and observation that humanity is seemingly going backwards. From head to toe the record bursts with influences spanning the epochs of grunge, alternative rock and indie – from Pixies, Pavement and some of the bands that came through the iconic New Zealand label Flying Nun Records in the 80s/90s like 3Ds and The Clean – yet with an effortless modern zeal that has C Turtle standing head and shoulders with other contemporary trailblazers in bar italia and Lime Garden. SLAG SLAG are making Math Rock sexy. SLAG formed in Brighton, late 2023. SLAGs guitar riffs are actually kind of crazy when you think about it. SLAG wear some really cool outfits on stage sometimes. SLAGs singer could be a man if you closed your eyes and listened closely, but she isn’t. SLAG released the song Ripped in September and everyone seems to really like it. SLAG released a workout video on YouTube. SLAGs live shows are awesome - lots of people have said so. SLAG have plans. Oral Habit The ear rattling psychic dream, of choked up acid punks. May 1, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Brighton and Hove
Cultural Experiences
Always friendly, always brilliant! Powered Up Business Networking (PUBNetworking) is an “out of hours” networking event that does away with the usual networking formalities. You’ll get to learn about the people behind the business - without a torrent of sales pitches …and bland tea and coffee. And you’ll get to have a lot of laughs whilst you’re at it! As you know, the best business connections are the people you want to spend time with outside of work. They’re the people you can trust, and whose company you enjoy. PUBNetworking is the place to find them. We have a loose structure, relaxed atmosphere and the opportunity to learn from other business experts - with no strings attached. Just bring yourself, your e-ticket and your best smile and you’re good to go. Each event has four objectives… Meet awesome people We have a wide range of business people that attend. From start-ups to those with 30 years experience - across a wide range of industries. Everyone that attends is under no obligation to attend (we have no memberships, or contracts) so they’re there purely to meet people like you. Build long-lasting relationships We believe in a 'people buy from people' philosophy. In a relaxed environment, everyone feels comfortable and the connections you make are less forced, and more genuine. You’ll get to know each person in more detail - and have a good time doing so. Learn things without pitches Each event is productive and valuable. And we want everyone to walk away having learned something new. Our speakers offer genuine value, without sneaky sales pitches. We want you to take what you learn and use it to benefit your business. Have fun And above all, we want you to have fun. Sometimes that’s easier with a drink in your hand (it also makes the terrible jokes slightly more tolerable…). Our networking events are all about you, your passions and your business success. What’s happening this month? For this meeting, our speaker is the awesome Peter Reynolds and his talk is called 'Identifying various customer types and adapt your strategy accordingly.' This session will cover customer profiling, enabling us to understand how others communicate and make decisions, enhancing relationship building. We'll also delve into identifying our own profile style and how to modify our approach for more effective interactions. Location. Held at The Lion & Lobster, we have their function room all to ourselves. And a great selection of drinks too! Plan for the night: 7.30 - Meet, greet & network. Your chance to sign in, grab a drink and speak to anyone you’d like. 7.50 - Introduction from Claire. 7.55 - Your chance to tell the room about yourself with a PUBNetworking difference… 8.20 - 1-2-1 with someone you like. 8.35 - Grab a drink/have a break. 8.50 - Presentation from Peter. 9.15 - Close the meeting and optional further networking. 9.30 - End/move into the bar of The Lion & Lobster to have a further drink should you wish. Important: Due to the nature of the venue, and room size, there are a limited number of spaces available. If you’d like to come along and enjoy a great evening of laughs, laid-back networking and actionable business help, reserve your space with an e-ticket now.
