Wings of Fire: FanWing Fest 2025 At the one-day festival, FanWings will be met with dragons, color, and an invitation to unleash their creative energy as they enter the event space. At check-in, FanWings will receive a laminate with a lanyard, a tribe-specific sticker, and (1) signed book per ticket. The laminate will include an activity list. Once FanWings are checked in, they will embark on an adventure through interactive activation stations, each themed after the original five dragon tribes. Completing activities will earn them collectible ribbons to attach to their laminate. FanWings will be fully immersed in the world of Wings of Fire through engaging activities, epic photo opportunities, in-depth book discussions, and the camaraderie of fellow fans. At key points throughout the experience, FanWings can meet at the Pyrrhia Stage for a photo op with author Tui T. Sutherland, compete in a trivia show, and take part in a costume parade. THE EXPERIENCE P yrrhia Stage Programming Programming will include an interactive trivia show with select contestants, a presentation from Tui Sutherland, the author of the Wings of Fire series, and a costume parade that is open to any FanWing that wants to show off their creativity! Select locations may have a presentation hosted by a VIP guest! Author Photo Op FanWings will be assigned a tribe and designated time slot for their photo op with Tui T. Sutherland. Each FanWing will have the chance to capture (1) personal photo before rejoining the festivities! Tribe Activities The festival is divided into immersive zones, each representing one of the original five dragon tribes. FanWings can explore and engage in hands-on activities inspired by the world of Wings of Fire! GENERAL INFORMATION Code of Conduct All FanWings are expected to act appropriately and abide by all rules and guidelines set forth by FanWing Fest and staff. Minors must be accompanied by an adult at all times. FanWing Fest staff reserve the right to ask guests to leave the property for violating any rules or guidelines. Checking In Upon arrival at the FanWing Fest, each FanWing (that’s you!) will need to present their digital or physical ticket and be checked in. At this time, you will be sorted into one of the five original Dragon Tribes. This will be noted with a sticker on your official lanyard, which must be worn at all times. This tribe designation will provide you with your timeframe for your photo opportunity with Tui T. Sutherland! Tui T. Sutherland Photo Opportunity There is one photo op session in the morning and one in the afternoon. Tickets holders are welcome to arrive at any time and will be sorted into their photo op session according to time of arrival and space availability. Attendees wishing to attend the photo op must be in the queue by 4:30PM, the event will close at 5:00PM. Our volunteers will be able to take pictures on (1) personal device for the group. There will be no autograph opportunities during the photo opportunity. Group photos are strongly encouraged. As Tui T. Sutherland would love to meet every FanWing at FanWing Fest, we ask that you prepare your thoughts as you approach the front of the line and are prepared for your photo-op as your moment will go quickly! All Day Access to FanWing Fest Once you are checked into FanWing Fest, you will be given a lanyard to be worn at all times. If you exit FanWing Fest for any reason, you must have your lanyard on and access to your ticket to re-enter. Anyone that attempts to re-enter without their lanyard, will not be provided access. What Time Should I Arrive? We have a full day of events that you are not going to want to miss! Check in will begin at 9:00AM and end at 4:30PM, with the event closing at 5:00PM. Due to the expected high volume of FanWings, there may be a short line as you check-in. What to Expect FanWing Fest will be a full day of interactive activities, exciting events, and discussing all things Wings of Fire! There will be scheduled programming that you won’t want to miss, as well as opportunities to explore and partake in independent activities. What to Bring You will need your digital or printed ticket to verify your entry into FanWing Fest. You may also consider bringing 8.5”x11” original artwork to display, a water bottle, medications that you may need. Depending on the location, there may not be access to outlets to charge devices. Please bring any portable chargers that you think you will need for the duration of FanWing Fest. What to Leave at Home Weapons of any kind are prohibited. Food & Beverages You may bring snacks into the venue. These should be ready to eat snacks, as there is no access to a microwave or other heating or cooling devices. Dress Code FanWings are encouraged to dress in a Wings of Fire themed outfit or costume. There will be an optional parade to show off your creativity amongst your fellow fans! Weapons of any kind will not be allowed, and any costume masks must be removable. Beyond a fierce costume, FanWings are strongly encouraged to wear sneakers and other comfortable clothing for a full day of walking around FanWing Fest. Layers may be preferable as the temperature within the venue may vary. Photography and Videography By your presence, you (on your own behalf and on behalf of any minors under your supervisions) consent to be filmed, taped, photographed, and otherwise recorded and agree that the producer may use, and grant others the right to use and modify, your (or any minor’s) voice, name, and filmed and/or recorded image and likeness, without limitation or restriction, and without payment to you (or any minors) of any kind, for all purposes, in and in connection with the events being recorded here or any other event or project (including without limitation, the advertising and promotion thereof), throughout the universe, in perpetuity, in any and all languages, formats, manner, media, devices, processes and technologies, now known or later devised. The tour will be led and narrated by Robert Vivar, co-founder and CEO of the Unified U.S. Deported Veterans; Immigration and Border Missioner for the Episcopal Diocese; and Via International's BiNational Coordinator. At 8am, participants will walk across the border to meet the Via International bus. The tour will use this bus all day and make the following stops: the office of the Unified U.S. Deported Veterans where participants can meet and talk with people who have been deported, the office of the Protectors of Emigrants on the border where people who are deported register with the Mexican government and are advised about where they can find shelter, Don Bosco Migrant Shelter, lunch prepared by women trained in nutrition by Via Migrante, presentation by Via International's Community Partner and MicroCredit group, Comunidad de Luz/Episcopal Diocese Migrant Shelter, Friendship Park next to the ocean and the border wall to learn about the Friendship garden and Border Church. After disembarking the Via International bus at the Tijuana side of the border, participants can choose whether to ride the cross-border shuttle for $10 (cash only) or to walk across the border (Global Entry and SENTRI members can utilize the Ready Lane for expedited pedestrian processing). Tour capacity is 23 people. Registration fees cover all expenses except the optional bus back to Customs and Border Patrol, which is $10 (cash only).
