The Folk Implosion (Lou Barlow & John Davis) back after a thirty year hiatus, stop by the Government Center in Pittsburgh for a rare performance. There will be an opening set from John, and opening set from Lou, then the Folk Implosion. ************************************************************************************************************ How the fuck are we going to turn this into a song?” That’s the question Lou Barlow and John Davis have asked themselves since co-founding the Folk Implosion in the early 1990s. Beginning with improvised jams featuring Barlow on bass and Davis on drums, the duo develop their beat-driven pop collages from the ground up. It’s the process they used on their debut cassette, Walk Through This World with the Folk Implosion, and one they’ve returned to 30 years later on their spellbinding, self-referencing reunion, Walk Thru Me. The Invisible Orange Presents Mayhemwith guests, Mortiis, Imperial Triumphant and New Skeletal FacesApril 6th, 2025The Rickshaw Theatre19+Doors: 5:30pmMayhemPreeminent black metallers Mayhem ready their newest live strike with Daemonic Rites for Century Media. The 16-track effort captures the frightful efficiency and utter lethality of the Norwegians as they close the chapter on their exalted sixth album, Daemon (2019). Throughout Daemonic Rites, Mayhem impressively nail newer tracks like “Falsified and Hated,” “Malum,” “Bad Blood,” and “Voces Ab Alta” to the proverbial cross, while offering pure fucking mastery of classics like “Freezing Moon,” “Buried by Time and Dust,” “Deathcrush,” and “Carnage.” The devilish quintet also add mid-career haunts like “To Daimonion,” “Symbols of Bloodswords,” and “My Death,” making Daemonic Rites a genuine career-spanning offering. “We wanted to document how great the band and set sounds like after almost 40 years of playing live,” says founding member Necrobutcher. “As a treat to our fans, we decided to release this live recording.” “We released the live version of De Mysteriis a few years ago,” Ghul adds. “That was received very well. We have been playing together for so long now with this lineup that we feel we have reached a point where we are a seriously well-oiled machine. It seemed like a natural step to try to capture this moment in the band’s history, with the same setlist we have been using for a while.” Mayhem have nearly 1,000 shows to their name. Since their formation in Langhus, Norway in 1984, the band—now comprised of Necrobutcher (bass), Hellhammer (drums), Attila Csihar (vocals), Teloch (guitars), and Ghul (guitars)—have brought their brand of bellicose, preternatural black metal to over 60 countries. From the United States and Germany to Australia and Brazil, Mayhem have stunned, bewildered, and turned rabid a global legion, dedicated as much to the band’s infamous legacy as they are staunchly in support of Daemon. Much of that respect and devotion started in the early ‘90s, but persisted to the present day on the strength of official live albums Live in Leipzig (1993), Mediolanum Capta Est (1999), Live in Marseille 2000 (2001) and De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas Alive (2016). Mayhem continue their on-stage assault with Daemonic Rites. www.thetruemayhem.com MortiisAfter Mortiis left Emperor, the Norwegian black metal band he was part of starting, in late 1992, he started Mortiis as a solo project, and released several solo records between 1993 and 1999. Reinvented as a proper band, Mortiis released The Smell of Rain in 2001. Followed by The Grudge in 2004, and the remix record Some Kind of Heroin in 2006. mortiis.bandcamp.com Imperial TriumphantImperial Triumphant is a metal band that embodies the dissonant duality of life in New York City, from its gilded towers of luxury and sparkling promise of success to its rotten, greedy, rat-infested underbelly. Formed in 2012 by vocalist/guitarist Zachary Ezrin and later joined by bassist Steve Blanco and drummer Kenny Grohowski, the band takes an avant garde, jazz-inspired approach to death/black metal – a deeply unique and confrontational sound made made even more menacing by the malevolent gold masks of the ancient gods Apollo, Baal, and Hecate worn onstage by the three members. www.imperial-triumphant.com New Skeletal FacesIt’s been 7 years since New Skeletal Faces arrived on our planet and embedded themselves in the seedy outlying corners of the Southern Californian music scene. Formed in 2017 New Skeletal Faces present themselves as a cosmic abomination that tote the genre lines between all manners of darkness in music. With an aesthetic as sketchy as their sound, NSF cast the black light onto the long dormant corpse of Deathrock, shattering the mirror of modern Heavy Metal into fragments that reflect back a fresh new take on a sound that time was never told to forget. It’s been with us all along, this darkness… the world can now pretend it always knew. newskeletalfaces.com RSVP on FacebookRefund PolicyNo refunds, unless event is cancelled. Sports & Fitness Walking
Experience fluid, effortless movement by syncing your breath with your steps. This unique progression uses walking sticks to unlock the power of your lungs—helping you move with greater ease and efficiency. Most people don't realise that almost 50% of our body weight rests above our lungs. The head, arms and upper chest stack on these two cushions of air and with every step they compress and decompress them as they shift, sway and swing! If we learn to use this air effectively, it becomes a hidden source of power. The secret? Synchronizing breath with movement—something most of us don’t even realize we’re doing wrong. When breathing, stepping, shifting, and swinging are timed optimally, movement becomes more efficient and effortless—whether for long hikes, running, or maintaining speed. And the best part? This can be trained through neuroplasticity techniques, making it available to anyone. Our bodies were designed to move on our lungs, just like a car runs on tires. By shifting, squeezing your lungs in the right way at the right time, you too can feel like you're Walking on Air! What To Expect In This WorkshopDuring this workshop, we'll progress through positions that allow conscious breathwork to integrate and synchronise with arm swing, ribcage shape, leg stance and neck tone. We start first with upright breathing mechanics, learning to sense rib rotation, what a full exhalation really feels like and why it matters. We play with bringing into conscious awareness the subconscious changes that happen to the sense of the ground when air gathers or leaves the lungs, when hips move position, and when arms swing. This workshop progresses from using both walking sticks → using just one → walking unsupported—mirroring human development from crawling to standing to walking. Who is this For?This workshop is perfect for: ✔ Hikers & Trail Runners looking to improve endurance and efficiency ✔ Dog owners who want to get the most out of walks themselves ✔ Athletes aiming for optimal running and breathing mechanics ✔ Anyone who has Rehabilitated an Injury who wants full-body reintegration ✔ People challenged with Walking Up Hills or Long Distances ✔ Anyone curious to know how the mind, body and breath work together unconsciously By the End of This Workshop, You’ll:✨ Feel a newfound ease in walking—whether on trails, up hills, or in daily life ✨ Move with your breath instead of fighting against it ✨ Unlock a sense of flow, rhythm, and lightness in your body You’ll Also Learn How To: Master the power of the exhale pause to retrain your breathing mechanicsFeel how your breath connects (or disconnects) you from the groundUse walking sticks to re-experience human developmental stagesUnlock muscle tension that limits walking freedomSynchronize ground sense, hip motion, and breath for optimal movementReduce long-distance stress on your body with optimal lung mechanicsExperience new breathing patterns (a past attendee described it as “like realizing there was a whole room in my house that I’d never used!”)Differentiate between arm swings vs. arm reaches and how they shape your ribcageLearn why arm reaching while walking is key to movement efficiencyUse your diaphragm to decompress lower back tensionUnderstand the connection between arm position and core activationIntegrate old injuries into full-body movement patternsCome to appreciate your walking sticks like never before!Have fun exploring movement with like-minded somatic adventurers⚡ Spots are limited!
