Women's SPoP Training Hike - Josephine Peak Trail | Josephine Peak Hike Meeting Spot
Sports & Fitness
Mountain Biking
****This is a women-identifying only hike****DESCRIPTION:For this adventure, we will be heading out to one of our favorite peaks to train for the SIX-PACK OF PEAKS Challenge. We will be summiting Josephine Peak. We will be starting at the the bottom of Colby Canyon, right across Clear Creek Fire Station. The ascent will be steady with a fair amount of switchbacks. There will be shade in some parts of the trail but it will be pretty exposed throughout most of the hike. As we keep climbing, we will start to see the views of other peaks like Strawberry Peak and Mt Lawler as well as an expansive view of the Angeles National Forest. There are a ton of amazing geo formations along the trail, which will give us a great opportunity to take short breaks to look at the sparkling rocks. Once we get to the peak, which takes roughly 4 miles to reach, we will take an hour break to replenish ourselves and enjoy the majestic views. If it's a clear day, we should be able to see downtown LA. This is also a great opportunity for some photo ops with the painted signs donated by local artists. This trail is a fire road frequently visited by hikers, trail runners and mountain bikers. It is an 8.1-mile out and back with roughly 1889 feet of elevation gain. It is rated MODERATE but don't worry, we will be hiking it nice and steady and will be taking a fair amount of breaks.
