Improv Basics: a 6-week class for grown-ups is an opportunity to add more joy, fun, and laughter into life by exploring the world of improvisational theater. This Level 1 intro class, held at Limelight Theatre in St. Augustine, offers a warm, safe, and supportive environment for students to learn and grow. Throughout the course, participants will delve into the basic concepts of improv, building self-confidence and exploring creativity along the way. Actors and non-actors alike will benefit from the class, which focuses on being present in the moment, accepting and building on gifts from classmates, embracing failure, co-creating with others, and thriving in an unscripted environment. Students will also discover the organic side of spontaneous ensemble comedy and the importance of teamwork in cooperative play. By the end of the 6-week program, participants will have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of improvisational theater and a newfound comfort on stage and in life without a script. The course runs from October 25 to December 6, with classes held every Wednesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Early bird registration is available until October 18 for $195, and prices increase to $215 from October 19 to 24.
