Join us at the Radical Collaboration: Panel Discussion X Detroit Month of Design 2023, taking place on September 13th in Detroit. Led by Design Core Executive Director, Kiana Wenzell, this panel discussion will explore the future of design and circularity in Detroit and beyond. The discussion will feature artist Mike Han and various collaborators, celebrating his solo exhibition, Mike Han: United By Design.
Detroit is known for its strong collaborative efforts, making it a unique creative hub. Unlike competitive markets such as New York City, Detroit's collaborative spirit sets it apart. Despite challenges with resources and funding, the city and its regional partners hold the key to future success. This panel discussion aims to explore how designers can best serve their collaborators and partners to achieve radical transformation in design. By aligning visions and working together, Detroit and Michigan can gain a global competitive advantage.
Mike Han, a Detroit-based artist and designer, will showcase his creative practice inspired by his Korean heritage, graffiti, and modern design. His work explores themes of self-identity, sustainability, and support for those in need. The exhibition will feature various design collaborations, including 3D printed tables with Haddy, a rug collection with Gardner-White Furniture, and a modular wall art system with Leon Speakers. Han's collaborations with SEE Eyewear, CultureVerse, and Detroitissimi will also be on display.
