Join the David Bethuel Jamieson Studio House at Walbridge in Washington, DC on December 1, 2023, for a special event, Day With(out) Art 2023: Everyone I Know Is Sick, in partnership with Visual AIDS. This event, presented by Visual AIDS, aims to generate connections between HIV and other forms of illness and disability through a program of five specially commissioned videos. These thought-provoking videos, created by talented artists from around the world, including Hong Kong, Brazil, Canada/Philippines, and the USA, explore the common experiences of disability, sickness, and health. Inspired by a powerful statement from Cyrée Jarelle Johnson, the program challenges societal norms and highlights the expertise and knowledge of disabled and sick individuals. After the screening, there will be a facilitated discussion with representatives from American University's Humanities Truck, Mount Pleasant Villagers, and a local history project called Unraveling the Mystery of Kilbourne Place Memorial Stones. This event, supported by The Lily and Earle M. Pilgrim Art Foundation, is a testament to Visual AIDS' mission to use art as a tool to fight AIDS, provoke dialogue, support HIV+ artists, and preserve a legacy. Admission to this event is free, so don't miss this opportunity to engage in an important conversation about health, sickness, and disability.
