Since 1973, SYHA and TCR have been an integral part of the Stamford community, fostering strong connections and creating unforgettable memories both on and off the ice. On Friday, October 13th from 7:00-11:00 PM, the Italian Center of Stamford will be the venue for this remarkable event. It's an opportunity to reconnect with friends, teammates, and coaches while honoring the individuals and families who played a vital role in shaping this hockey program and facility. The evening will be filled with delicious food, unlimited wine and beer, raffles, silent auctions, and live auctions to raise funds for SYHA. At SYHA, we believe that hockey should be accessible to everyone, regardless of experience or socioeconomic status. That's why we offer scholarships exceeding $20,000 annually, ensuring that children who may not have the means can still participate in this beloved sport. Our goal for the next 50 years is to expand our scholarship program, ensuring future generations can experience the same joy and camaraderie we've had at TCR. Together, let's pass the puck forward! Terry Conners Rink, owned and operated by the City of Stamford, has been a cherished home for Stamford Youth Hockey, Skating Club of Southern Connecticut, Terry Conners Synchronized Skating Teams, and various high school hockey teams. Since 1973, TCR has provided affordable hockey, figure skating, and basic skills programs to residents of Stamford and its surrounding areas. It's a place where the community comes together, united by their love for the ice. To celebrate this momentous occasion, we are offering various sponsorship levels and ticket options. Join the IC Pickleball Courts in Stamford for the Pickleball Goes Pink Tournament! This exciting round robin pickleball competition is not only a chance to showcase your skills, but also an opportunity to support breast cancer awareness and raise funds for a great cause. The event will feature various skill level divisions, ensuring that players of all abilities can participate and make a difference. Throughout the day, participants will have the chance to win amazing prizes through raffles, and refreshments will be available to keep everyone energized. All proceeds from the tournament will be donated to Stamford Health Hope in Motion, a local organization dedicated to providing support and resources for those battling breast cancer. The tournament will be divided into three sessions, each catering to different skill levels. From 1:00 to 2:30, players with a skill level of 2.0-2.5 will take the court. Following that, from 2:30 to 4:00, the competition will be open to players with a skill level of 2.5-3.0. Finally, from 4:00 to 5:30, those with a skill level of 3.0-3.5 will have their chance to showcase their pickleball prowess. Join the exciting 2023 Darien and New Canaan Moms Family Fun Day at Chelsea Piers Swim School, taking place in Stamford at the renowned Chelsea Piers Connecticut venue. This special event offers limited spots for swim lessons, ensuring an exclusive experience for attendees. The best part? Admission is free for all, with no membership required. Pre-registration is essential, as there is a maximum capacity of 24 children. To secure your spot, reserve your tickets in advance. On the day of the event, check-in for your swim lesson at the Aquatics Desk. The Swim School program provides a range of lessons for different age groups. For 3-6-year-olds, Stroke Discovery 1 offers a non-independent learning environment in the Learn to Swim Pool. This session focuses on water safety and essential swimming skills, including proper head and body position, arm movements, kicking techniques, and breathing exercises. The goal is for swimmers to independently traverse the length of the pool. In the Stroke Discovery 2 class, also for 3-6-year-olds, children will further expand their swimming abilities. This independent session takes place in the Catch Pool, where swimmers will be introduced to the Freestyle and Backstroke. With a 3:1 ratio, instructors can provide individual attention while also incorporating group swimming exercises. Swimmers will work towards earning their Gator Badge and advancing to the Stroke Development program. For 6-8-year-olds, the Development 1 class is designed to enhance their swimming fundamentals. Held in the Olympic Pool, this session focuses on key strokes such as freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and dolphin kicks. With a focus on independent swimming, this class provides a solid foundation for further skill development. Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to enhance your child's swimming abilities.
