The BBMA endowment fund supports Métis Albertans seeking to change their circumstances through education and skill development. Creating Possibilities is an annual cultural event that honors the journeys and successes of BBMA participants. The value of the program goes beyond the dollars--it's an investment in our future, helping Métis students achieve their career goals and make a difference in their communities. Awards are intended to assist recipients with essential costs such as tuition, fees, and sometimes textbooks and supplies. Each year approximately 250 awards are approved by the BBMA Panel. Since 2001, these awards have generated more than $11 million for over 3500 Métis Albertans studying at various institutions. 400 guests are expected to attend this year including Elders, Founders, previous and present recipients, dignitaries and generous sponsors. 2022 'Founders' Video BBMA Milestone Magazine Information Source: Belcourt Brosseau Métis Awards | eventbrite

The world is full of millions of potential spell components. Herbs, crystals, and other ingredients all have their own properties...but what if you can't get any of that one item you need? What if you can't burn incense or candles in your home? What if you've found a historical spell that includes toxic ingredients? What if it's not safe to come out of the broom closet where you live, so you can't risk shopping from metaphysical stores and websites, or keeping obviously-witchy items in your home? What if something has happened, and you need to cast a last-minute spell right now , but it's the middle of the night and no stores are open? In this class, we'll look at a real historical spell and dissect its components, exploring reasons why various aspects may be difficult or impossible to find/use/do, and we'll discuss alternative options to make a safe, working spell. All attendees will receive a folder of reference handouts/grimoire pages from the class material, including a list of recommended books, websites, podcasts, etc. HOUSEKEEPING 1) We're still having issues with map apps taking folks to our old location. We've found the best workaround is to enter our address (7933 104 street NW) into the search instead of our shop name. 2) Tickets are available on EventBrite through 11:59pm MST on August 13th. Refunds are available through EventBrite up to seven days before the event. EventBrite fees are non-refundable. 3) Tickets are only available via this Eventbrite listing. Anyone offering tickets via any other medium is likely trying to scam you. Information Source: Where Faeries Live | eventbrite

Black Pontiac is a band born out of tension. Emerging from an underground scene they helped reshape in the wake of the pandemic, the Vancouver, BC quartet has been walking a careful line ever since — balancing grit and glam, youthful exuberance and anxious introspection, garage rock edge and indie-pop hooks. It’s a tightrope act where contradiction isn’t a flaw, but the point. Their sound thrives in the push and pull, and with over 10 millions streams on Spotify, several tours, festival appearances, and support slots for acts like lovelytheband and Peach Pit under their belt, the band is poised to turn up the tension even higher with a new project coming in 2025. The record dives headfirst into the chaos and contradictions that have come to define Black Pontiac — a reckless, anxious, swaggering, and tender collection of songs grappling with the performance of masculinity, the fear of falling apart, and the desperate attempt to carve out a sense of joy and belonging in the mess. The Nightstand is an indie alternative rock band formed in 2022 as a collaboration between classically trained musicians Quin Roschkov, Callen Weisgerber and Maddy Wemyss. Having cultivated their signature sound through jam heavy performances and sophisticated song writing, The Nightstand has been playing at bars and private shows all around Edmonton slowly amassing a dedicated following. Join us for a heart-led, laid-back afternoon at Heart Beats — a celebration of music, art, and community at a local equestrian sanctuary. This isn’t just an event — it’s a gathering. A chance to connect, create, and be in a space that’s been nurtured with care and intention. It’s about uplifting local artists and supporting a vision for this land as a place for creativity, connection, and expression. You can expect a steady flow of live music, pony rides, art, local food, and SeaChange craft beer — A day to celebrate the arts and artists of our city. There will also be opportunities with the horses for children and adults. It’ll be relaxed and real — soft rhythms, meaningful moments, and the kind of conversations that unfold naturally under big open skies and good company. Every ticket helps support that vision — caring for the land, the animals, and the community that gathers here. Whether you're coming to give, connect, reflect, or just soak in the vibe — there’s a place for you.
