Led by esteemed experts such as Dr Kat Jungnickel from Goldsmiths College, University of London, an award-winning cabaret performer, Ada Campe, and the esteemed feminist production hub, Scary Little Girls, this event brings to life the groundbreaking research from the Politics of Patents project.
Prepare to be amazed as you witness original patents come to life, showcasing ingenious creations such as a Victorian lunchbox and muff combo, an Edwardian device designed to save lives during sea voyages, and an array of secret compartments hidden within bags, bustles, hats, and hooped skirts. Delve into the captivating history of clothing, exploring themes of sportswear, domestic labor, and women's fashion.
"Pockets of Power!" is a one-of-a-kind concept created by Rebecca Mordan from Scary Little Girls, Dr Kat Jungnickel from Goldsmiths, University of London, and Dr Naomi Paxton from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. This groundbreaking event is part of the Politics of Patents research project, funded by the European Research Council and hosted at Goldsmiths, University of London.
