Experience three exciting new exhibitions, It's a Wrap, IFeel Monsters, and Giving Voice, at the Access Gallery during the Denver Art Walk on November 3rd! Access Gallery is thrilled to present these three immersive exhibitions that showcase the incredible talent and creativity of our artists.
It's a Wrap is a captivating installation of soft sculptures, meticulously crafted by Access Gallery artists during a 7-week residency with renowned artist Nicole Banowetz. Inspired by the enchanting world of deep underwater imagery, the artists explored the profound cyclical concepts of light and dark, and life and death. They collaborated to create unique armatures using recycled materials, which they then bound together with masking tape. The sculptures were beautifully re-wrapped, covered in a variety of fabrics and string, resulting in an extraordinary display. The participating artists, including DILLPhoenix, Heather H., Jareth J. Charles, and Skylar K., have poured their hearts and souls into this mesmerizing exhibition.
IFeel Monsters is a remarkable community project that originated from the soft sculptures created by Enchanted Dichotomy. The project began when Enchanted Dichotomy crafted an IFeel Monster using loom knitted beanies, inspired by their time at an eating disorder treatment center. This heartfelt creation was transformed into a stuffed toy, representing the emotions of "I'm okay" and "I'm not okay." Enchanted Dichotomy then generously shared their skills by teaching others to create their own IFeel Monsters during biweekly workshops. All of the IFeel Monsters will be given as gifts to individuals affected by bullying, in collaboration with The Bullying Recovery Resource Center. Visitors are also invited to contribute to a community installation that raises awareness about bullying. By writing notes, creating sketches, or designing buttons, participants can add their voices to the project, which will be on display throughout the exhibition.
Giving Voice is a powerful program designed to empower young individuals living with disabilities to express themselves and advocate for social causes. This year's theme is bullying, and the participants were asked to share their personal experiences, frustrations, and hopes regarding this topic. Through collaboration with a professional AIGA Colorado graphic designer, interns had the opportunity to work as clients and guide the design process. They bravely shared their thoughts, inspiring the designers to create impactful posters that reflect their stories. These posters are a testament to the resilience and strength of these individuals.
