Active in the Toronto Francophone community, he is a member of several boards of directors, including that of the Toronto Radio Cooperative, and hosts the show Franco Découvertes on CHOQ FM. A former president of the Association of French Ontario Authors, he is also involved in environmental causes as a board member of the Trees That Feed Foundation. Gabriel chairs the Haïti Futur-Canada Association and leads a campaign to erect a statue in tribute to Suzanne Simon Baptiste Louverture. As a writer, he has published several works, including his latest novel on the history of Suzanne Simon Baptiste Louverture, which will be released in autumn 2024. Among his distinctions, he won the Alain-Thomas Prize in 2021 for “Le jour se lèvera” and was a finalist in 2018 for “Hubert le restavek” at the Dimitriu Van Saanen Prize.
