Join us for a weekend of uphill skiing & riding at Bolton Valley! The weekend will include frontcountry and backcountry portions and will be perfect for intermediate (Saturday) or expert (Sunday) skiers and riders with prior experience with uphill travel. Participants have the option to register for one or both days. Important details regarding registration can be found below. Weekend ScheduleOn Saturday, SheJumps will host a day of front-country, with on-piste uphill laps on designated uphill trails, descending on the resort's alpine trails. You must be able to ski/ride blue trails. Participants can join for one lap or as many as they choose. If you're newer to uphill travel or out of practice, this will be a great warm-up/fitness day! Everyone can feel free to take a lunch break on their own, and we'll end the day with an après gathering including a raffle around 3 pm. We can have up to 30 participants on Saturday. Sunday will provide a typical New England-style adventure, with AMC leading a group into Bolton Valley's extensive backcountry terrain. With over 12,000 acres of untouched wilderness adjacent to the resort's alpine trails, the group will have many options to choose from - from tree glades to narrow chutes and moderate cliff zones - and will navigate together based on group preferences. The group size will be more limited on Sunday. Participants will be required to have expert backcountry experience in order to join, along with the ability to ski ungroomed black diamond terrain and glades. Our group will travel at a moderate pace (climbing approximately 1,000 feet per hour). Be prepared for vigorous aerobic exercise, likely involving 5+ miles and 2,000+ vertical feet. You should be prepared to spend the day in the backcountry and bring appropriate food, water, layers, personal first aid, and personal gear repair kits. Though this event will not focus on teaching skills, it should help participants practice uphill travel and navigate into the backcountry with confidence, all while making safe group decisions, exploring, and finding and riding as much vertical as possible. Who can attend: We welcome all women and girls—transgender and cisgender, as well as non-binary people to attend this event. Participants should be familiar with all equipment needed for uphill skiing or riding. This event series isn't intended for people who haven't skied before, or those that don't have experience with uphill touring.
