This is a wonerful session for children and parents to attend together. Led by Amanada Turner 'Sherborne Instructor' from Move With Me. Join us on Tuesday February 11th for our first Creatives' of 2025. It's all going down at Bedrock Fishtown. DJ Ant G and the Creatives' House Band will be there to keep the open mic vibes going. Mike Weatherbe will be your host to keep it rolling. We'll also have local to Philly hip-hop legend Aable ending the night as our closing feature. Creatives' Cafe is an intentionally designed, cross-genre, open-mic, showcase styled, performance and networking event. It's all going down on Tuesday February 11th. Doors open 6:45 PM. Come to hear from and connect with artists from across the city who are already making a profound impact on the culture. Come early to drop you name in the buckets for a chance to get on the list to perform and make your mark on the audience. Hear & see different artistic expressions that help make our city one of the most eclectic and unique places on earth. The event will feature at least a dozen unique artists in 90 minutes on the open mic side before our final closing feature, Aable will perform right around 9:00 PM. There will be light refreshments available through our vendors. Come enjoy the atmosphere, vendors, and love from our team. We absolutely hope to see you there. Ticket prices increase as we get closer to the event so grab yours ASAP to save. Support tickets are always available as well. Open Mic Sign Up: Doors will open at 6:45 PM. The sign up buckets will be made available at entry until 7:15 PM. We'll draw half the names from the buckets our first performance will kick off on stage at 7:20 PM. Midway through the event we'll pull the second half of names that'll perform on the event. Please note the buckets will likely fill-up quickly so be sure to get there early if you'd like the chance to perform! Closing Feature For the first time in six years our crew is changing up the structure for our cross-genre open mic to try something new. We're hoping this concept feels like a bit of an upgrade to our audience. We're scrapping some of the incognito feature slots to open up even more slots for open mic performers. Also we're going to close out the event with a named closing feature which will be AABLE for February 11th. In partnership with Ed Video, the Art Gallery of Guelph invites you to an engaging evening featuring a screening of Susan Mogul’s 1997 film, I Stare at You and Dream, currently showcased alongside a collection of over 80 quillboxes in the exhibition Do You Remember Love. The film highlights the intersecting lives of four individuals, following the intertwining familial and romantic relationships that explore how personal history shapes the present, inviting us to consider questions of identity, family dynamics, and the search for a sense of home. Event Highlights Candid Corner Pop-Up: At 6:30 pm, participate in Ed Video’s interactive video recording station where you can share your thoughts and reflections on relationships, relationality, and family, themes inspired by the film. Film Screening: Stay at 7:30 pm to watch Mogul’s intimate exploration of the lives of four individuals over six months. Before the screening, program facilitators will prompt participants with thought-provoking questions about relationships, interpersonal connections, and family ties. Step up to the mic in the Candid Corner booth and contribute your voice to a live, collaborative video project. Your reflections will be edited in real-time into a short film, which will be presented at the end of the evening as a collective community response to I Stare at You and Dream. Participation in the Candid Corner program is optional, and all are welcome. Please note: This event is recommended for adults. Participants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Susan Mogul’s film contains mature themes and conversations. Registration is appreciated but not required. Seating and space are limited, so early arrival is encouraged. ________________________________________________________ Filmed in Mogul’s Highland Park neighborhood in Los Angeles, a predominantly working-class Latino area, I Stare at You and Dream follows the intersecting lives of four individuals: Mogul herself; her friend, Rosie Sanchez; Rosie’s teenage daughter, Alejandra (Alex) Sanchez; and Ray Aguilar, Mogul’s on-and-off boyfriend. Susan Mogul has been involved with video since the early 1970s, creating a foundational body of humorous and staunchly feminist performance videos before expanding into experimental narratives, including feature-length work. Her numerous accolades include a Guggenheim Fellowship, a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, and an ITVS commission. Her work has been showcased internationally, with a survey of her videos held at the Austrian Film Museum in Vienna in 2024, and her first solo museum exhibition at the Zacheta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw in 2022. Other notable exhibitions include California Video at the Getty Museum, Los Angeles: Birth of an Art Capital at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and Where Art Might Happen: The Early Years of CalArts at the Kunsthaus Graz. Mogul’s work has also been discussed in X-TRA (2020), where “A Feminist’s Survival Index” reviews her current work within the context of feminist art history. Her career and contributions are further explored in Women of Vision: Histories in Feminist Film and Video, where a chapter is devoted to her impactful legacy. A meek flower shop assistant (Seymour) and his co-worker (Audrey) long for a better life. During a total eclipse of the sun, Seymour encounters an unusual plant that he names Audrey II. He soon learns that the plant will only eat human blood.
