A king announces that he will divide his kingdom between his three daughters according to how much they love him. Lear thinks he will live out his old age with all of the comforts of kingship, and none of the responsibility. But the eldest two daughters, Goneril & Regan, have other ideas in mind - and he has given away all power to stop them. His vanity has devastating consequences for family, nation and climate. Our First Encounters with Shakespeare production, makes Shakespeare’s play about family, power and betrayal relevant for a new generation of theatregoers. This 80-minute version of King Lear uses an edited version of the original play to create the perfect introduction for young people aged 7-13 and their families. The tour of First Encounters: King Lear is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, which makes it possible for the RSC to expand its tour to work in partnership with more places across England. If you've not done lino printing before come along to this session where you can have a go and pick up the basic techniques. This session will be running at the same time as one for people who are confident with the basics of lino printing and are going to have a go at redution lino printing over 3 sessions. It's ideal for those of you who either haven't done it before or not for a very long time and need to be reminded what to do! In a really supportive and encouraging environment, with people round you who really want to progress, you'll be in the perfect place to design and then cut out and make your first prints. They will be perfect for mounting on cards (which can be purchased at £1 each including envelopes) making into gift tags (two for £1) or perhaps framing so you can remind yourself about your creativity every time you look at it! So bring an apron and a packet of wet wipes as it's improtantt to keep both you and your work area clean. Printing ink can be a little sticky and good at staining! And bring some ideas for a design. A photograph, a picture or a design, bring a few so we can decide which is the best to start with! Your first lino cut won't be too complicated but it's a good opportunity to try out different cutting blades and have a go at straight and curved lines etc. If you find you're getting on well you might have time to produce a simple first print, and then work at something a little more complex for your second! But this isn't a race. Take your time, be relaxed and chillded, enjoy meeting some new friends and the home made cake and tea nad coffee to sustain you! And treat yourself to a morrning of creativity. Please note lino cutting tools are sharp so this class is not suitable for your childrne or those who don't have a reaonsaly steady hand. Children over the age of 11 accompanied by a paying adult can attend. There is a £3 discount for children so message me and I can send you payment details. Welcome to Ecstatic Temple: The Four Elements Ritual. This is more than just an ecstatic dance event—it’s an invitation to reconnect with the essence of who we are, through the timeless dance of the four elements. Each element mirrors a part of our being: the grounded, raw energy of Earth, the transformative and cleansing flow of Water, the fierce and invigorating spark of Fire, and the expansive, ethereal presence of Air. Guiding us through this immersive experience is none other than Kundalini Project, weaving an evocative live performance that transforms each moment into art. Prepare to surrender as the music becomes your compass, carrying you on a journey through the elements and into yourself. Arts Painting
Whether you've used watercolours lots before or never have, come and have fun experimenting with lots of techniques, (eg cling film, salt, oil, toothbrushes, candles and wax crayons..... wet on wet. wet on dry, adding pencils, permanent pens etc) and then spend about 3/4 hour on a longer piece! All materials are provided but if you have a favourite set of paints or brushes you want to bring, please do! Watercolours aren't really messy but it's always best to wear painting suitable clothes! Hot drinks and cake provided. I really want young people to enjoy art (I'm a trained primary and early years teacher) so children who are interested in art are welcome if age 8 and over. However the class is designed for adults so children up to age of 14 must be supervised by an adult carer who is responsible for their behaviour. If they disrupt the class I'm afraid you will have to leave. I do hope you understand. (If you want me to run some classes for chuildren, please discuss separately with me!)
