Signe Wilkinson, a Pulitzer Prize-winning political cartoonist, will be discussing the role of satire in contemporary events at the Historical Society of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. The event, titled “Can She Say That? Signe Wilkinson Cartoons A Man’s World,” will delve into Wilkinson's career and the history of political cartooning. As part of the Society's 200th Anniversary celebration, an exhibit titled Cartoons as Political Speech in Colonial and Contemporary America will be unveiled, showcasing Philadelphia's impact on American history. The event will be held on June 11, 2024, with both onsite and virtual tickets available, including a Zoom link. Onsite tickets grant access to the talk, a reception, and the exhibit. Current secondary, undergraduate, and graduate students can request complimentary tickets by contacting programs@hsp.org. The Historical Society of Pennsylvania looks forward to engaging visitors in exploring American history during its bicentennial year, with support from the Richard C. von Hess Foundation.
