Queer Youth Prom is a free event for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth and their close allies organized by a group of committed volunteers associated with the Pride Centre of Edmonton. Queer Youth Prom is an opportunity to engage in a night of dancing and fun-filled activities with friends and/or family that may not have been otherwise provided for youth in high schools or may not be available to them now (e.g. prom/dance/formals). Please join us for an evening of music featuring mezzo-soprano Mairi-Irene McCormack and pianist Shannon Hiebert in support of a very special cause. The duo will perform a selection of classical vocal music including works by Matthew Emery, Manuel de Falla, Georges Bizet and Jake Heggie, as well as some favourite Celtic/folk and pop songs. Alongside the musical entertainment, there will be a silent auction featuring a variety of wonderful items and an assortment of desserts will be served. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. This event is a fundraising effort for the Brian McCormack Memorial Fund , which was first established in July 2023. The fund supports Lewy Body dementia research at the University of Alberta. Further details about this research will be shared as part of the event.
