Tree Detective: How to Assess the Stability of Your Trees | The Chattery Downtown
Apr 24, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Chattanooga
According to researchers at UTC , the urban tree canopy of Chattanooga has decreased by 43%. It is important now more than ever to preserve the large shade trees in our communities that would take generations to replace.
In this class you'll learn to identify common warning signs that your tree could be hazardous. The class will also explain the characteristics of a tree that is structurally stable and non-threatening. Research in modern arboriculture has expanded our understanding of trees and provides a set of measures that can be used to predict likely outcomes.
The tree service industry today is much more advanced in its management practices than it once was. Still, many tree services continue to encourage tree removal without identifying evidence of hazard. Learning the basics of tree structure will empower you to enjoy the benefits of trees without the risk.
About the teacher:
Noah Johnston is an ISA Certified Arborist with five years of experience in the tree service industry. He is the owner of Epic Tree Solutions which offers comprehensive tree management solutions to Chattanooga, TN and surrounding areas. Noah is passionate about urban tree canopy preservation and specializes in maintaining the health and stability of large shade trees. When he's not obsessively staring at trees he enjoys time with his wife, their son, two dogs, and a cat.

April ATLS 2-Day Student Course | Erlanger Health System Nursing Simulation Center- Massoud Bldg
Apr 24, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Chattanooga
Injured patients present a wide range of complex problems. The Advanced Trauma Life Support® (ATLS®) Student Course presents a concise approach to assessing and managing multiply injured patients. The course presents doctors with knowledge and techniques that are comprehensive and easily adapted to fit their needs. The skills described in the manual represent one safe way to perform each technique, and the American College of Surgeons (ACS) recognizes that there are other acceptable approaches. However, the knowledge and skills taught in the course are easily adapted to all venues for the care of patients. The ACS and its Committee on Trauma (COT) have developed the ATLS program for doctors. This program provides systemic and concise training for the early care of trauma patients. The ATLS program provides participants with a safe, reliable method for immediate management of the injured patient and the basic knowledge necessary to:
• Assess the patient’s condition rapidly and accurately
• Resuscitate and stabilize the patient according to priority
• Determine if the patient’s needs exceed a facility’s capacity
• Arrange appropriately for the patient’s inter-hospital transfer (who, what, when, and how)
• Assure that optimum care is provided and that the level of care does not deteriorate at any point during the evaluation, resuscitation, or transfer process
For doctors who infrequently treat trauma, the ATLS course provides an easy-to-remember method for evaluating and treating the victim of a traumatic event. For doctors who treat traumatic disease on a frequent basis, the ATLS course provides a scaffold for evaluation, treatment, education, and quality assurance. In short, ATLS is a measurable, reproducible, and comprehensive system of trauma care.
