The Wyoming Arts Council is pleased to announce the 2025 Arts Summit, scheduled to take place in Casper, WY, on October 10. Held every two years, this statewide gathering offers a unique platform for artists, arts administrators, educators, and advocates to connect, learn, and explore Wyoming's diverse and vibrant arts landscape. This year’s theme, Rooted & Ready: Laying the Groundwork for Creative Momentum, invites Wyoming’s cultural leaders and creative changemakers to come together for a day dedicated to building stronger foundations for the future. The Summit will explore how the arts can be deeply embedded in community wellbeing, accessibility, economic growth, and organizational sustainability. Through inspiring keynote presentations, interactive workshops, and opportunities for meaningful exchange, attendees will engage with topics such as conflict resolution, digital accessibility, board development, strategic fundraising, and continuing to strengthening Wyoming’s creative economy. Highlights include a keynote on how to use the arts to foster community change, a health and arts film screening and discussion, and a closing activation session designed to help transform ideas into action. The Summit also celebrates the state’s creative excellence with two special public events. Come early and join us on Thursday, October 9, for the 2025 Biennial Fellowship Exhibition Opening Reception at the Nicolaysen Art Museum from 6–8 p.m. Then, stick around on Saturday, October 11, for the 2025 Biennial Performing Arts Fellowship Showcase at The Rialto from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. These events are free and open to the public—don’t miss the chance to experience the incredible talent shaping Wyoming’s creative landscape. Billy McGuigan’s shows have sold out countless performances and have broken box office and attendance records in several theaters across the country. Career highlights have included playing with Buddy Holly’s Lead Guitarist and Grammy Award winner, Tommy Allsup, and Rock-a-Billy hall of fame and writer of ‘Oh Boy’ and ‘Rave On’, Sonny West. Billy won the Spotlight Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance as Buddy Holly in Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story. Billy’s love of music comes directly from his father, Bill. With an out of tune guitar and tattered Beatle chord books, Billy, his brothers and Dad would spend countless hours at the dining room table learning to play and appreciate the music we all grew up listening to. Shortly after Bill’s death in 1996, at the age of 42 after a short battle with leukemia, the McGuigan Brothers turned to the music their Dad taught them as kids to help deal with the loss of their father. Not only did they find healing in the music, it lead to the creation of Rave On Productions where the mission is to create live concert experiences with the sole purpose of connecting audiences together through memories and music.
