Prepare to explore a magical world of heroes and monsters as you join a band of adventurers, forging a destiny of myth and legend that bards will tell of in story and song for years to come! Over 5 days, our expert Dungeon Masters will teach you how to create a character, fight monsters, and complete quests, as your character grows in power and skill! Everything you need will be provided, including character sheets, pencils, a set of dice, and figures! All of these supplies will be yours to take home, to continue your adventures beyond this introduction to the hobby. In addition, snacks and drinks will all be provided each day. No experience with Dungeons & Dragons is required. Basic reading and math skills are a benefit, but certainly not a requirement. Our DM will help out with anything you may need in the creation of your character and playing of the game. The most important thing is using your imagination and working together to have fun, and we will do all we can to create an environment where all kids feel comfortable doing so. This day camp will run Monday, August 25th through Friday, August 29th, 9AM-12PM, for children aged 8-14. On the first day, you'll meet your DM, receive your dice and character sheet, and together with the rest of the players at your table your DM will teach you all how to create characters. The next day we'll conclude any remaining character creation, and you will get to paint a fugure to represent your character. Continuing on through the week your DM will guide you through your adventure, and together with your fellow players you'll explore dungeons, solve puzzles, fight(or even befriend!) monsters, and all partake in an adventure you'll remember for the rest of your life! Come Away is a retreat for both women and men. Intentionally small with room for up to eight participants, this retreat is designed to enable you to find sacred space for rest and reflection, renewal and restoration. You will be guided into silence over 4 days and 3 nights. Invited to experience the still, small voice of God loving you. Two private spiritual direction sessions are included. Cathy will be facilitating this journey of deep, profound silence. A word from Cathy…..’my first silent retreat was 23 years ago…It was a gift I wasn’t sure I wanted. Someone paid for me to go and so I went. I was tentative. Unsure. Not used to this degree of stillness and silence and there was a degree of fear and apprehension. What happened for me during those 3 days became some of the most profound treasure I am still gleaning from today. To open myself up to the Presence of Love in such vulnerable stillness was life-changing and has fueled my passion in leading retreats for the past 16 years as I want to share this experience with others. We'll commence the class with some teaching before transitioning into an active and revitalizing hatha yoga sequence. This will be followed by a meditation session and culminate in a circle gathering. The choice of a hatha yoga routine during the New Moon phase is strategic as it aligns with the lower energy levels often experienced during this time, prompting us to slow down and recharge, much like the moon itself. It's fascinating because we are essentially mirroring the moon's natural rhythm. The moon dims its luminosity to replenish its energy, encouraging us to follow suit by reducing our outward expressions. Our focus will revolve around directing our awareness inward, fostering introspection through the practice of forward folds. This approach will establish the foundation for nurturing and planting intentions during the later meditation segment. The New Moon marks an ideal moment for fresh beginnings and setting intentions. Lori will lead the group through teachings, yoga and a guided meditation.
