RootsCamp [Un]Conference 2025 | Southern University Law Center
May 23, 2025 (UTC-5)
Baton Rouge
RootsCampLA is the convening of forward-thinking activists across the state of Louisiana. Whether your issue is anti-facism, reproductive rights, police reform, anti-racism, voting rights, labor justice, maintaining democratic control of schools, LGBTQIA equality, disability rights, healthcare, or housing – you name it, if it’s about demanding a more equitable and inclusive society, then RootsCampLA is where you need to be!
This is an “unconference.” Instead of only offering our own pre-set slideshows and “expert” panels, participants like you design most of the sessions and help develop the program and the vibe because you are the expert on creating change.
This year, we're debuting something new- some of our amazing community partners will be hosting issue-based caucuses for reflecting on the state legislative session and engaging in strategic issue-based organizing. We'll need your voice!

However, WHO TRAINS THE PEER SUPPORT/CHAPLAINS? Often well-intentioned people who want to serve as chaplains must learn through the school of hard knocks. The realities that are faced daily by police officers, firefighters, military personnel and paramedics differ significantly from the routines that many other people face. This Level 3 Training will equip each student with practical tips, tools, and techniques to provide care and support to first responders!
