Robin Preiss Glass | Flower Girls: A Story of Sisters | The King's English Bookshop
May 24, 2025 (UTC-7)
Salt Lake City
Join us for a special storytime featuring the illustrator of the New York Times bestselling Fancy Nancy series, Robin Priess Glasser. Robin will be reading her new picture book, Flower Girls: A Story of Sisters. We encourage attendees to wear their fanciest dresses! This event is free and open to the public but registration is required. About the Book From magnetic sister duo New York Times bestselling Fancy Nancy illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser and author Jacqueline Preiss Weitzman comes an endearing picture book about sisters, the gardens they nurture, and the people they’ll grow into. Everything blooms in its own time. Lily’s garden is perfect and precise, while her sister Poppy’s garden is eccentric and wild. Now that their youngest sister, Daisy, is old enough to have a garden of her own, the question is what will this flower girl choose to plant, and will her sisters stand back and let her bloom, or will they get in the way in the name of being helpful? From the talented sister duo behind Gloria's Promise and You Can't Take a Balloon into the Metropolitan Museum, writer Jacqueline Preiss Weitzman and bestselling Fancy Nancy illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser bring us a tale of the bonds of sisterhood and the flourishing roots of individuality.

With a voice as articulate as Ocean Vuong’s Little Dog, and as cracklingly irreverent as Holden Caulfield, Old School Indian delivers a rambunctious, refined, and altogether singular exploration of family secrets, of heritage and language preserved and forgotten, and of our capacities for healing and catharsis.

About The Ghostkeeper
Dorian Leith is a therapist for ghosts. He listens to their problems and tries to help them move on to the afterlife. It’s a gift that’s made him an outcast to everyone in town. That is except for his dearly departed grandmother, who he’s partnered with to turn this paranormal ability into an honest living, and the local bookshop owner, who seems to be the only non-deceased person willing to give him a chance. But it’s all worth it to Dorian, who feels like he’s been given a bigger purpose. A chance to save those who cannot save themselves. Then one day, the key to Death’s Door is stolen, trapping all the ghosts in the land of the living. Since he’s the only one who can see them, the spirits rely on Dorian to retrieve the key before it is too late. If they can’t move on, they’ll soon be consumed by a ghostly rot that has begun to plague them. As it continues to fester and spread, and the ghosts become desperate for relief, Dorian must do whatever it takes to find a way to bring peace to the restless dead—even if that peace comes at the cost of his own…

About the Book
#1
New York Times
bestselling novelist Maggie Stiefvater dazzles in this mesmerizing portrait of an irresistible heroine, an unlikely romance, and a hotel—and a world—in peril.
January 1942. The Avallon Hotel & Spa has always offered elegant luxury in the wilds of West Virginia, its mountain sweetwater washing away all of high society’s troubles.
Local girl-turned-general manager June Porter Hudson has guided the Avallon skillfully through the first pangs of war. The Gilfoyles, the hotel’s aristocratic owners, have trained her well. But when the family heir makes a secret deal with the State Department to fill the hotel with captured Axis diplomats, June must persuade her staff—many of whom have sons and husbands heading to the front lines—to offer luxury to Nazis. With a smile.
Meanwhile FBI Agent Tucker Minnick, whose coal tattoo hints at an Appalachian past, presses his ears to the hotel’s walls, listening for the diplomats’ secrets. He has one of his own, which is how he knows that June’s balancing act can have dangerous consequences: the sweetwater beneath the hotel can threaten as well as heal.
June has never met a guest she couldn’t delight, but the diplomats are different. Without firing a single shot, they have brought the war directly to her. As clashing loyalties crack the Avallon’s polished veneer, June must calculate the true cost of luxury.

Salt Lake City
One of the most thought-provoking horror films of all time now is…a musical. SAW The Musical hilariously captures the events of the first movie parodying the Saw that started it all following from where Lawrence Gordon and Adam Stanheight find each other for the first time in the bathroom trap. Will they follow the rules as they discover each other's secrets? Will they escape the game in time and saw right through? A love story with fluidity (and lots more fluids), 'SAW The Musical The Unauthorized Parody of Saw' isLittle Shop of HorrorsmeetsAvenue Q, pushing the boundary on sexuality and how to love. One of the most thought-provoking horror films of all time now is…a musical. SAW The Musical hilariously captures the events of the first movie parodying the Saw that started it all following from where Lawrence Gordon and Adam Stanheight find each other for the first time in the bathroom trap. The following events will take place:
.22 Long Rifle
This event will consist of six stations where five shots will be taken at each station (for a total of 30 shots). Shots will range from 0-75 yards. Each station may use a different shooting position (standing, kneeling, sitting and prone). Stations may use props or shooting scenarios (standing using a post, tripods, shooting from a ground blind, prone using a log, etc.). Targets will be standard rimfire silhouette targets (chicken, turkey, pig and ram).
Shotgun
This will be a sporting clays-style competition. Expect clay targets to be thrown from all directions. Most targets will be true doubles but some report pairs (second bird is launched at the sound of the first shot) may be thrown. A total of 30 shots will be taken. The best practice for this would be 5-stand or a walk-through sporting clays course.
Muzzleloader
The muzzleloader event will consist of 10-12 shots. You will shoot at metal silhouette or knockdown style targets. Shot distances will range between 0-75 yards. Each station may use a different shooting position (standing, kneeling, sitting and prone). Stations may use props or shooting scenarios (standing using a post, tripods, shooting from a ground blind, prone using a log, etc.). There will be a possibility for a written exam.
Archery
The archery event will be a walk through a 3D-style course. Targets will range from 0-40 yards. A total of 30 shots will be scored. Scoring will use the traditional 3D rings and will be scored 10-8-5. Targets will be standard Delta or Reinhart targets. Rangefinders are not allowed.
Written Exam
The written exam will consist of 60 questions. All questions will be taken from
Utah Hunter Education Student Manual and Utah Hunting Guidebooks
.
The questions will go over everything from ethics to information on wildlife species. This will not be an open book test so be sure to study.

Kate Woodworth | Great Little Island | The King's English Bookshop
Jun 20, 2025 (UTC-7)
Salt Lake City
Join former TKE bookseller Kate Woodworth for a book event with a conscience. Kate, author of Little Great Island, will be in conversation with former TKE owner, Betsy Burton. Joining Kate and Betsy will be Franque Michele Bains from Sierra Club Utah, and Debbie Lyons from the Salt Lake City Office of Sustainability. This beautifully crafted novel tells a love story set on a small New England island where the lobster fishing is drying up and, with it, a way of life. The community of seasonal and year-round residents must find a way forward, but conflicting visions take hold as everyone fights for their own view of the future. This event is $5 and open to the public. All ticket proceeds benefit the literary non-profit, Brain Food Books. Copies of the book will be available to purchase at the event. You may also pre-order your signed copy of Little Great Island to be picked up at the event by either calling the store at 801-484-9100 or ordering online. If you cannot make this event, signed copies may be ordered from our website. Please specify in the comments if you would like your copy personalized. Places in the signing line are reserved for those who purchase a copy from The King's English.
