Looking to sharpen up your skills or could it be you have always fancied figure drawing but didn’t know quite where to start? Fall into the safe hands and eagle eyes of well-known artist and tutor Suzanne Kemplay for a half day Masterclass. Expect to experiment with a combination of quick ink washes and line drawing. Learn how to use ink washes to model the figure in tone then use pens to create contour. Be encouraged to embrace a more playful and incidental style of mark making and to enjoy the unpredictability of ink. Join us for the morning or afternoon only or treat yourself to a whole day. Tutored morning session 10 - 12.45pm £50, model only afternoon 1.30 -3.30pm £25, whole day £70. Spend an evening learning how to paint a famous painting or Scottish view. Relax in our twinkly, airy studio with a glass of fizz (or red or white) and be taken through the various steps that will help you create your own version of Peploe's Luxembourg Gardens - Paris. Previous art experience is not necessary. This is about having a good time in a relaxed and friendly studio. Come along as part of a group or have an evening to yourself being absorbed learning something new. Classes will be limited to 12 people, over 18s only. Join skilled printmaker and experienced teacher Anupa Gardner for this half day workshop which will introduce you to the joys of lino cutting and printing. During the workshop participants will explore different ways of mark making on easy-cut or traditional lino with the help of gouges to carve your A5 blocks. You will be shown a simple registration method and learn how to use the lino cutting gouges, transfer images onto blocks, and handprint using barens or spoons on different coloured paper. Feel free to bring a sketch or a simple digital printout (max size A5) or use one of our many resource prints! The workshop is 4 hours with a half hour break at lunchtime, you are welcome to bring lunch in to eat in the studio or there is a cafe next door. A workshop exploring expressive approaches to painting seascapes in acrylic, focussing on a variety of methods for applying paint in order to capture the movement and drama of waves. The workshop will begin with demonstration of techniques and discussion of colour choices, followed by plenty of time to experiment freely. After developing confidence in the techniques, we will apply them to a couple of larger seascape paintings based on images chosen from a wide selection. Each painting will be built up over several layers, with individual advice and support throughout. All materials will be provided as well as refreshments morning and afternoon.
