Join us for our Sea Survival Course. Whether you use powerboats or sailing vessels, are a crew or skipper, beginner or experienced, you are welcome to join us for this one day course. We will look at Sea Safety topics in the morning followed by an afternoon training session in the swimming pool looking at lifejackets, life-rafts and sea survival techniques. Please note the course takes place at one of two locations across Poole, please check before booking if transport is an issue. RYA Diesel Engine Course The RYA Marine Diesel Engine course is an introductory course aimed at preventing breakdowns and solving basic problems at sea. Suitable for leisure boaters and those working on the water. Also a great confidence builder ahead of Yachtmaster exams. It is a one day course based in our training room in Poole. We have both training engines and parts to examine and work on. Usually taught by our Chief Instructor, Dom, he is keen to make this course practical and relevant. No experience necessary. We will look at how to use tools & options to include in your tool kit on board. During the course we will consider what spares to carry on board. We will also look at how the engine works, its components, routine maintenance and trouble shooting. We have a training engine (Beta 10) to take apart and reassemble but also plenty of parts from other engines to examine too. There is no final assessment, we just want people to contribute and participate in the day and to leave feeling confident and inspired to get more involved with the engines on their own boats. Our classroom is based at Parkstone Bay Marina overlooking Poole Harbour. During the day we will supply coffee and biscuits. Our Pay and Play sports are led by students for students. Campus Sport Assistants deliver these informal, fun, relaxed sessions. Open to all beginners, and/or those who just want to make friends, play social level sport and maintain a minimum level of fitness. These sessions can be paid for on a 'pay as you play' basis of £3.50 a session. You simply to click onto the dates you need to pay for each session individually.
