SOLD OUT - Mo Kenney at Steeple Green | Steeple Green Books
May 23, 2025 (UTC-4)
Musquodoboit Harbour
Mo Kenney is coming to town!
Mo Kenney is a Singer/Songwriter from Nova Scotia, Canada with renowned lyrical prowess and memorable presence. On their fifth studio album, From Nowhere, Mo Kenney embraces the textures of ambiguity and the rich blur of being, failing, and becoming. As they shift through lush arrangements that touch on dreamy folk, sparse alt-country, and warm, hazed-out lo-fi pop, everything is up for interpretation and nothing is fixed. In their lyrics, Kenney opts instead to defy definition, making room for non-linear and fragmentary sentiments that challenge their own feelings about personal growth, acknowledge the slippery and shadowy nature of memory, and build love songs that conjure the bonds of friendship just as much as they hint at romance.

May 23, 2025 (UTC-3)
Dartmouth
This is a fun and friendly barista compeition, hosted by Cafe GoodLuck in partnership with Have Fun Coffee and Bramble Cafe. Sponsored by Eight Ounce Coffee.
Latte Art Competition
In this portion of the event, 16 baristas will go head-to-head to compare their latte art skills! In each round, two baristas will be given an assignment (e.g. cappaccino with oat milk) and will have to pour their best art. Three judges will point to their favourite cup, and the barista with the most votes will move on to the next round. This will continue until one person is crowned the winner.
Tasting Competition
In this portion of the event, participants will taste three coffees that they have never tasted before. They will then have to guess where each coffee was grown, how it was processed, and what varietal it was.
FAQ
Can I compete in both the latte art and tasting portions?
Yes! The schedule is formatted to ensure that anyone participating in both will be able to do so. Just make sure to buy a ticket for both events!
Will I have time to practice on your machine before the latte art competition?
Yes! Competitor check-in will be at 6:00, and each person will have the chance to steam two pitchers of milk before the event begins.
What if I can't make it for the practice time?
The first round is purposefully the easiest one so that if you aren't able to make the practice time you should not be at a significant disadvantage.
Do I have to pull my own shots?
Nope! We'll have a dedicated shot puller.
Where can I find the rule book?
All participants will be sent a .pdf of the schedule and rulebook. If you would like to see the rules before deciding to participate, please email orders@cafegoodluck.com to request them.
I don't want to compete, but this sounds fun. Can I watch?
Yes, of course! Space will be limited, so come early to ensure you get a spot. We'll have snacks and beverages available.

Blood on the Clocktower Teach 'n Play | The Board Room Game Cafe
May 25, 2025 (UTC-3)
Halifax
"In the quiet village of Ravenswood Bluff, a demon walks amongst you..."
Join Game Boss Andrey as Storyteller for this spooky mystery game!
During a hellish thunderstorm, on the stroke of midnight, there echoes a bone-chilling scream. The townsfolk rush to investigate and find the town storyteller murdered, their body impaled on the hands of the clocktower, blood dripping onto the cobblestones below. A Demon is on the loose, murdering by night and disguised in human form by day. Some have scraps of information. Others have abilities that fight the evil or protect the innocent. But the Demon and its evil minions are spreading lies to confuse and breed suspicion. Will the good townsfolk put the puzzle together in time to execute the true demon and save themselves? Or will evil overrun this once peaceful village?
Blood on the Clocktower is a bluffing game enjoyed by 5 to 15 players on opposing teams of Good and Evil, overseen by a Storyteller player who conducts the action and makes crucial decisions. The goal of the game is to successfully deduce and execute the demons before they outnumber the townfolk.
During a 'day' phase players socialize openly and whisper privately to trade knowledge or spread lies, culminating in a player's execution if a majority suspects them of being Evil. At 'night' time, players close their eyes and are woken one at a time by the Storyteller to gather information, spread mischief, or kill.
Admission is $10 each (+tax and Eventbrite fees), granting everyone access to both the event, and our collection of 600+ board games before and after the event (provided there is space)! Event is ALL AGES, but please note that any guests under 14 must be accompanied by a chaperone.

There, There [+ HIFF Open Field short (for once I dreamed of you)] | The Bus Stop Theatre Co-operative
May 28, 2025 (UTC-3)
Halifax
There, There
is the sophomore feature from Halifax filmmaker Heather Young, whose 2019 debut
Murmur
earned awards and accolades across Canada and beyond, and introduced viewers to a new way of seeing Nova Scotia on film.
In her latest, an elderly woman named Ruth (Marlene Jewell) has her routines disrupted by worsening dementia, while Shannon (Katie Mattattal), her pregnant caretaker, works to track down her baby’s father.
There, There
marks a huge step forward in Young’s spare, exacting framing and cut-to-the-bone storytelling. The characters inhabit a small world of heavy, pervasive quiet, one in which each bingo dauber, doily and bedspread has something to say about the particulars of Maritime suffering.
Midway through the film, a doctor asks Ruth where she lives. When the name eludes her, she falls back on a pleasantry instead: “It’s the city I live in. It’s a great city, it’s wonderful.”
There, There
offers no easy answers on whether these are things we believe or just say to fill the silence. —

Eephus | The Bus Stop Theatre Co-operative
May 29, 2025 (UTC-3)
Halifax
Through his work in the Omnes Films collective, cinematographer Carson Lund has spent the better part of a decade turning a critical eye to the rituals of small-town America, offering a refreshing, esoteric new vision for the possibilities of independent film. Now, in
Eephus
, his feature directorial debut, Lund finds a microcosm of the nation’s folksy charms and societal ills in its national pastime.
Eephus
tracks the final game of a men’s rec league on a New England ball field set to be demolished the following day. As their day-game extends late into the night, the players go to increasingly ridiculous lengths to keep it going, sensing that once it ends they’ll be incapable of finding an excuse to spend time with each other again.
Far from the skilled play and high-stakes drama of the typical sports picture,
Eephus
is the rare work to capture the sad, complicated allure of sport for the average unremarkable player. Matching its rhythm to the game’s crawling pace and brusque dugout banter, the film basks in the many ways baseball is at odds with modern living, examining it not so much as a contest, but a fading framework for connection.
