We are honored to welcome Dr. Joel Bacon, the Stewart and Sheron Golden Chair in Organ and Liturgical Studies at CSU, as our featured organ soloist in the final concert of our 2024-25 season. The first half of the program includes several choral works by Vaughan Williams, Howells, Finzi, and Bach, all accompanied by organ. Gerald Finzi’s “mini-masterpiece” Lo, the full, final sacrifice , Op. 26, serves as the centerpiece for the evening. The work is full of expressive lines and dramatic writing that Finzi is well-known for, including a beautiful and poignant closing “Amen” section. This rarely performed anthem is certain to strike at the heart of the listener. The second half of the program includes an array of accompanied and a cappella works by Frank Ticheli, Rosephanye Powell, Stephen Sondheim, and more. Concert-goers are invited to a reception immediately following the concert to celebrate 27 years of music making! Light refreshments, hors d’oeuvres, and desserts will be served. All sales are final. A Sound Bath is a deeply-immersive, full-body listening experience that intentionally uses sound to invite gentle, yet powerful, therapeutic and restorative processes to NURTURE YOUR MIND,BODY, and SPIRIT. We begin our time together with a few minutes of intention setting, self reflection, and guided breath, while the remainder of the experience is filled with different sounds and frequencies being introduced in succession. The sounds are created by a variety of overtone-emitting instruments including chimes, gong, shruti box, Quartz crystal singing bowls, and voice. When you sink into a Sound Bath and guide your awareness to your listening, you allow your brain waves to slow, shifting from a more active state to a deeply relaxed, dreamlike state. This is the art and practice of deep listening. The sounds introduced during a Sound Bath are an invitation into a deeper state of consciousness, an opportunity to unplug from external stimuli and to gain perspective on what’s going on within you. The goal of the experience is to invite deep rest and relaxation, and explore self-inquiry and self-discovery. W hat to Bring: P lease bring a yoga mat, blanket, and/or any props you need to feel comfortable (eye masks, bolster, cushion, etc.) Be sure to arrive hydrated and avoid any excess alcohol or caffeine use prior and post Sound Bath. The floors at the Art Lab are concrete, so doubling up on yoga mats, or having a thick blanket, is recommended. I do not provide props at this time, so please come prepared. We are offering 3 different league options this year all lasting 12 weeks long. Individual Stroke Play League2-Person Stroke Play League2-Person Scramble LeagueAll of these leagues are floating which means you have from open (9am) on Mondays to close (10pm) on Sundays to complete your 18-hole round each week. Once we collect all scores, we will apply your handicap (NET) scores and award points each week based off how you do against the field. For new league members, handicap round is FREE!! Don't get shell-shocked over this adorable project!! With a little Flingin Pots instruction you'll make and paint your very own clay snail. Starting with 2 pinch pots of clay, students will mold a shell, a flat coil for the body and create the head out of a small ball of clay. Add some fun face emblishments and you'll be saying to yourself.. I snailedi it! After a quick flash dry, you'll paint your newly constructed snail with ceramic paints. Snails will be ready for pick up back at Flingin Pots home studio 1 month later. We know clay moves at a snails pace..but be shell-assured. They will be worth the wait!
