Nourishing & Heart-opening Singing Circle | Beechwood Hall & Rural Park

Beechwood
Arts
Join us on Sunday April 6th 2025 at 6.30pm immersed in nature in Beechwood Hall, just a stone's throw away from Lewes, for a nourishing and heart-opening Singing Circle! We'll start with a luscious and healing cup of Cacao, to help open the Heart and soften. Through a heart-centered meditation, we'll set our intentions for the evening and the year ahead, then gently awaken and open our voices before settling into the main part of the evening: a beautiful, sacred Singing Circle. We’ll sing a variety of music with sacred roots, bhajan, mantras and also some original music. This event is hosted by Sonia Ter Hovanessian (singer, flautist and coach), who will offer her music, voice, guidance and Heart to the event. She is blessed to be in a beautiful collective of musicians who often come and provide their voices, musicality and support to these events. Supporting with music and his gentle heart is Nicola Lionello and with her angelic harmonies, Emma Coley. If you have instruments and would like to bring them along, please do and if you'd like to share any music, that would also be most welcome. If you would like to come but don't feel up to singing yourself and wish to just enjoy being surrounded by singing and music, that is also absolutely fine. Whether you are new to singing or a seasoned vocalist, this event offers a unique opportunity to explore the profound benefits of singing, the voice and music in a supportive and nurturing environment. Contribution The Singing Circle, inclusive of Cacao is on a sliding scale from £20 - £30. For those who don't want any cacao, we can offer a slight discount. If you would like to come along and money is an issue, please send me a message directly (details below), and we can see what we can do. If anyone wants to pay one forward for others who may not have the funds, then please let me know, as this is a way for me to be able to ensure these events are accessible, regardless of cost. 😊 Please contact me directly to make a payment via bank transfer, or cash if you would like to save on the Eventbrite processing charges. *-* It is recommended to book in advance, either on Eventbrite or directly with the organiser (number below). *-* Please bring your own (yoga) mat, cushion and blanket. Chairs are available for those who prefer. *-* You are welcome to bring something for the altar (crystal, photo, written affirmation, special memento) if you wish. *-* We provide filtered water, which we bring on site. A selection of teas will be available. *-* Free on-site parking is available. *-* Located in Cooksbridge, it is one stop on the train from Lewes and then a 5-minute walk. *-* Lifts available from Brighton. Contact me for details. **Contact details for queries/ info: Sonia Ter Hovanessian: 07887 745732 / soniaterhovanessian@gmail.com Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you and getting to know you and your voices! *** Sonia Ter Hovanessian: Sonia is a musician, singer, flautist, singer-songwriter, and coach. She has a background in classical and jazz music. She has studied under numerous teachers and as a coach uses a blend of EVT (Estill Voice Technique), jazz improvisation and intuitive heart-centered techniques. Her own journey with the voice has been far from easy, though. Growing up she suffered from nodules on her vocal cords, preventing her from even speaking at times. Despite receiving speech therapy, her true healing came only when she began studying under the guidance of a vocal coach. And through the beauty and power of singing she dove deep into the voice, all whilst healing deep emotional wounds through therapy, which were probably the root cause of the dysphonia. This led her to embrace her voice fully and become the sensitive and heartfelt singer she is today. This journey, along with her discovering medicine music, sacred chants and mantras in more recent years, along with her own spiritual awakening led her to a renewed understanding of the importance of music and especially the voice in our everyday life, for inner healing, and to bring joy and connection to the world. She is currently studying Integral Sound Healing with the Voice at the Sound Healing Academy. Information Source: Sonia Ter Hovanessian | eventbrite

Join us on Friday 25th April (International DNA Day) for our Annual DNA Symposium and learn how cutting-edge DNA technology & Genealogy is used to solve Cold Cases of Violent Crimes & Unidentified Human Remains. Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy (FIGG) has revolutionized the use of DNA in criminal investigations since 2018, when it was announced that the decades-long mystery of the Golden State Killer, one of America's most notorious criminals, was finally solved using this powerful new investigative tool. Since then, FIGG has generated investigative leads in at least 1,200 investigations across the United States, and is growing internationally. During this symposium: Anne Marie Schubert , the lead prosecutor in the Golden State Killer case, will delve deep into the complexities of this investigation and how FIGG was applied, leading to the arrest and conviction of Joseph DeAngelo Jr, who evaded capture for over 43 years. John F. Fahey , Supervisory Assistant State's Attorney (Connecticut), will discuss the work of the state's Cold Case Unit, how advances in DNA technology are now re-opening cold cases investigations, and how FIGG was used to identify and convict the perpetrator of a series of sexual assaults in Connecticut from the 1980s. Karen L. Ross , Chief - Cold Case Unit, Deputy Chief - Homicide Bureau, Queens County District Attorney's Office, and Lisa Mertz , Assistant Director, New York City, Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME), will discuss their collaborative efforts and successful partnership between the Queen's District Attorney's Office and the OCME to successfully solve cold cases, including the challenges faced with applying FIGG to older evidence samples and how to overcome them. They will also discuss the first arrest and prosecution of a FIGG case in New York City, 45 years after the crime was committed. Claire Glynn , Founding Director of FIGG at the University of New Haven, will explore the power of forensic science and its ability to bring justice to victims and their families. She will also discuss how the public can help investigators solve cases by contributing their DNA to the genetic genealogy databases used in FIGG investigations, e.g., GEDmatch. The symposium will conclude with a panel discussion and audience Q&A on the use of advanced DNA methods in criminal investigations. The symposium will also include a DNA Drive , where registered attendees will have the opportunity to take a free consumer DNA test (e.g., AncestryDNA (usual retail cost $99)), if they wish to, and will learn how to upload their DNA data to GEDmatch to help solve violent crimes and unidentified persons cases. This symposium is in person only . There is no virtual option to attend. The symposium will be held in Bucknall/Dodds Theater , on the grounds of the University of New Haven, located at 300 Boston Post Rd, West Haven, CT 06516. Parking instructions will be emailed to all registered attendees 24 hours before the event. Certificates of Attendance will be emailed to registered attendees (must check-in at registration) within one week after the event. For government agencies who wish to purchase tickets via a purchase order, please email our office administrator, Tianyin Yu, at tyu@newhaven.edu, to request a purchase order, with the names and email addresses of the attendees. Once the clock strikes midnight - return to our platform to see your matches. It's where Cheeky meets convenience! You can also access your profile via mobile, tablet or PC. Our platform isn't an app so it requires absolutely no downloading and can be accessed directly from our website, anytime. Paper scorecards are just so 2010! The night has arrived! Go to the venue at the published start time for the event. There is no official start time to the speed dating portion of the evening - we like to wait for all daters to arrive, to have a moment to settle in with a refreshment and mingle should they wish. Our personable hosts will assist you with your MyCheekyDate 'Smart-Card’ Scorecard. Flirty and fun, your mobile scorecard is just the beginning. Chat up our Hosts for tips or simply to ask, which direction the bar is in! After being shown to your table, the ladies will remain seated for the duration of the event. The gents move from lovely lady to lovely lady every six to seven minutes. Your mobile scorecard gives you the ability to see all the participants attending your event, upload your picture, make your selections and be notified of your matches all from your phone. Offering uncompromising value with unparalleled service. Lovely venues and our lovely Hosts to assist you with anything or anyone. ----- If you are interested in reading about our Blind-Date Matchmaking with packages ranging from $595 to $945, please click here.
