An evening of Parisian-flavoured jazz and Gypsy Swing ★ ★ ★ ★ “intelligent, interesting and inventive” THE JAZZ MANN “excellent band…diverse numbers, smart arrangements" JAZZ JOURNAL Swing from Paris are an all-string jazz quartet of violin, guitars and double bass, inspired by the music of the 1930s, ’40s and '50s. Expect stylish jazz and vintage swing , from Benny Goodman, Charlie Christian and Artie Shaw to Django Reinhardt, Stéphane Grappelli and the master of tango Astor Piazzolla. The group's Parisian-flavoured jazz and gypsy swing has been delighting audiences for over 15 years: from major jazz festivals including the Django Reinhardt Festival at Samois-sur-Seine, to the BBC’s Hairy Bikers and the opening of the award-winning Gloucester Services. Tickets Tickets £16 in advance, £18 on the door. Early bird tickets at £15 Under 18s £ 10 (must be accompanied by an adult) Timings Doors and bar open 7pm . Performance 7.30pm - 9.30pm (including 20min interval) . About the band: Swing from Paris are Tomasz Williams (double bass), Andy Bowen (electric guitar), Fenner Curtis (violin), Sam Hughes (acoustic guitar). They enjoy creating and playing their own arrangements of music they love, mostly inspired by the swing era of the 1930s and 1940s: including music by Gershwin, Piazzolla, Benny Goodman, Django Reinhardt, Stéphane Grappelli and the Hot Club of France. They’ve been seen on the BBC’s Hairy Bikers, and have appeared at major jazz festivals including Cheltenham, Brecon and the Django Reinhardt Festival at Samois sur Seine. The band started out of a chance meeting of Andy Bowen and Fenner Curtis, when they both sat in at a Birmingham University jazz club jam session. Already fans of the music of the guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stéphane Grappelli, they started a group and began playing regularly across their home county of Gloucestershire. Following formative years as a dedicated Django Reinhardt ensemble, they widened their repertoire to include many other greats of the era and beyond – and welcomed members Sam Hughes on guitar and Tomasz Williams on double bass in the late 2010s. Their latest recording together is I Love Paris (2024), available on vinyl, CD and digital. Listen On Spotify or visit swingfromparis.co.uk Find social links and mailing list via linktr.ee/swingfromparis Audience comments: "Absolutely wonderful" "A truly spectacular and accomplished group” “Fabulous musicians, fabulous arrangements. Can't recommend enough!” “Highly recommended. Wonderful performance” Reviews ★ ★ ★ ★ "their love for, and knowledge of, their chosen material is wide and deep, but nevertheless they put their own stamp on it" - THE JAZZ MANN "successful partnering of acoustic with electric guitar distinguishes the band’s sound…symphonious violin, soulful guitar and heart-rending bass” Jazz Journal "Clever interpretations and adaptations … what a performance by this Cotswold-based combo" – Nub News "awe-inspiring…The band members have real rapport with one another" - Swindon Link Information Source: Swing from Paris | eventbrite

Hamilton, Ohio - Great Miami River Trail Smart-guided Selfie Cycle Tour All along the way is the Great Miami River with hints of the former Miami and Erie Canal - a great tour for a relaxing, level adventure. This 24-mile bikeway tour will take you along the scenic Great Miami River and the historic remnants of the Miami and Erie Canal. A dog-friendly, midway tasty spot is en route where you can grab a bite, a beverage, or just a rest moment before continuing the tour. There are also several other tasty options in the area. The route follows the topography of the Great Miami River shoreline, which is relatively flat. There are a couple of segments where you might use a bit of bike gear, but nothing to work up too much of a sweat over. Speaking of sweating - it's optional. You set your pace, starting time, and touring agenda with CycleNuts' expert smart-guided cycle tour pattern. On some short segments, you will be sharing the road with motor vehicles. This is mostly an un-shaded trail, so remember to bring the sunhats and lotion, and perhaps plan on an early morning or evening adventure if hot, sunny rides are not your cup of tea. Besides the adventure of the bike trail itself, there are some other things along the way to make this tour a memorable event. Check out the following p oints of interest on the route: Hamilton - Hamilton was founded in 1791 as Fort Hamilton, named after the Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton. The fort served as a supply station for the troops of Generals Arthur St. Clair and Anthony Wayne. Great Miami River - Originating upstream from Indian Lake, the Great Miami River flows 170 miles southwest to its confluence with the Ohio River west of Cincinnati. Great Miami River Trail - Hugging the Great Miami River Valley for nearly all its route, this winding trail follows US Bike Route 25 and in some places the former Miami and Erie Canal. Named Best Bike Trail in Ohio by Ohio Magazine in 2019, it passes through a dozen charming downtowns, including Hamilton, Fairfield, Middletown, Franklin, and Dayton. Rentschler Forest MetroPark - The park has over 400 acres that include acres of woodland, about a half-mile frontage along the Great Miami River, remnants of the old Miami-Erie Canal, a reconstructed wetland, and ample opportunities for a wide variety of outdoor recreation activities. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE TRAINING FORMAT The July 2025 AVAA format will combine in-person training with work you will complete on your own . This will include a pretest that MUST be taken before the start of the Academy. This combination of training styles allows the speakers to spend more time answering questions and applying the knowledge to real world problems. The Academy will total 40 hours of training which makes it eligible for the National Advocate Credentialing Program. To keep the interactive nature of the training, the in-person portion will total 36 hours with 4 hours of “pre-work” to be completed before the start of the Academy. This pre-work provides the foundation for the training that will occur during the week. The pretest will measure the attendees knowledge before the training and a posttest must be completed before certificates are awarded. By registering for this training, each attendee agrees to complete the necessary work as described above. The pre-work will be sent to you on or after 7/8 /2025 depending on when you register, so register early to ensure the maximum amount of time to complete the work. INFORMATION ABOUT THE AVAA The Arizona Victim Assistance Academy (AVAA) is a project of the Arizona Coalition for Victim Services (ACVS) which is a non-profit coalition made up of crime victim service providers. To date, AVAA has trained over 1,000 advocates state-wide. This Basic Academy provides a rare opportunity to work, study and interact with other victim service providers from around the state. The number of attendees is purposely kept small so that adult learning techniques can be used to reinforce the information received by the instructors. This Academy is intended to provide fundamental information for all crime victim advocates. The Academy is designed primarily for victim service providers who are new to the field of advocacy with approximately one to three years of experience; however experienced advocates may also find the academy beneficial. This material is pre-approved by the National Advocate Credentialing Program. For more information see http://www.trynova.org/help-crime-victim/nacp/ The registration includes; lunch each day, except Friday, and all instructional materials and supplies needed for the training .
