Alt-folk singer-songwriters Samson Wrote and Justin Orok are on a collaborative album release tour, and will be sharing a sweet & gentle night of folk music at Silence on May 1. Samson Wrote—AKA Sam Boer (he/they)—is a musician, writer, and theatre practitioner. His debut album, Pigeon, was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award in the “Pushing the Boundaries” category and praised by Exclaim! as “prolific and expansive.” His single “Little Parts" was nominated for “Song of the Year” by Folk Music Ontario. His new album, In Season, was produced by JoJo Worthington; recorded with Juno-winner Scott Merritt at Guelph's best studio, the cottaGe; and features an incredible array of musicians, including the Lifers' Liv and Anita Cazzola, Annie Sumi, Zach Cockburn, and Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee Jeff Bird. In Season will be released on the 2025 summer solstice. Justin Orok is a Toronto-based singer-songwriter best known for his intricate, character-driven narrative songwriting. His debut album Kanata, featuring Polaris-prize winning producer Jean Martin (Tanya Tagaq), was released to critical acclaim on Paraphenalia Records in Japan. Releasing in 2025 are two new recordings: Debt, a collection of cover songs by his mentors, and his sophomore full-length album. Information Source: Silence | eventbrite

SATURDAY 3 MAY THE ART OF LETTING GO - FINDING FREEDOM IN IMPERMANENCE 10AM -1PM Buddha teaches that everything is in a perpetual state of change, never remaining the same, even for a moment. Gaining an understanding of impermanence profoundly impacts our minds, particularly regarding our problems and difficulties. When we understand that things do not exist as they appear but are in a state of constant change, we realize there is no need to cling to anything. This wisdom enables us to let go, leading us to experience true freedom. In this half-day course, Gen Kunden will guide us through the teachings on impermanence. By developing deep insight on this simple yet profound truth, we will gain true inner freedom and experience the peace and happiness we wish for. Each session will consist of short teachings, prayers, and meditations, with refreshments provided between sessions. Everyone is welcome, regardless of previous experience. $25. Free for members Information Source: Avalokiteshvara Kadampa Buddhist Centre | eventbrite

Reiki Share We are delighted to invite you to a Reiki Share gathering, a special event where we come together to share and experience the healing energy of Reiki. Whether you are an experienced practitioner or new to the practice , this is a wonderful opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, deepen your Reiki practice, and enjoy a sense of community. During our Reiki Share, we will: Engage in group meditation to center and ground ourselves. Take turns giving and receiving Reiki in a peaceful and nurturing environment. Share experiences and insights with fellow participants. Enjoy light refreshments and meaningful conversations. This event is a wonderful chance to deepen your Reiki practice, share your energy, and receive the gift of healing from others. Your presence will contribute to the collective energy and create a space of warmth and compassion. Reiki is based on the principle that universal life force energy flows through all living beings, and when this energy becomes imbalanced or blocked, it can lead to physical, emotional, and spiritual distress. It works by channeling universal life force energy through the hands of a trained Reiki practitioner, promoting deep relaxation, stress reduction, and overall well-being . By harnessing this powerful energy, Reiki helps to harmonize your body, mind, and spirit, paving the way for transformative experiences . We look forward to sharing this healing journey with you and creating beautiful memories together. See you there! Information Source: My Reiki Connection | eventbrite
