River View Trail Hike at Jenner Headlands Preserve | Jenner Headlands Preserve

Preview our soon to be open River View Trail!
Enjoy a scenic morning hike along our soon to be opened new trail which features breathtaking views of Goat Rock and the Russian River. The River View trail has a minimal incline for the first 1.5 miles, then climbs 700' over a moderate grade up to the barn. We will stop for lunch at the barn picnic tables before heading down the Raptor Ridge trail. The total loop will be about 5 miles. This guided hike will move at an naturalist's pace as we stop to observe the flora and fauna along the way. Please be prepared to navigate some muddy and slippery sections with appropriate footwear and hiking poles.
Registered guests will meet at our parking lot on Highway 1 at 9am.

Full Moon Night Hike to Sentinel Pt!
Come greet the "Pink" Moon with us atop Sentinel Point.
We will meet at the parking lot and watch the sunset colors from the picnic area. From there we will take a slow walk up to Sentinel Pt to listen to the night sounds of the ocean, howl at the coyotes, listen for owls, and lie back and watch the full moon rise over the hills as the ocean swallows the last of the daylight.
Registered guests will meet at our parking lot on Highway 1 by 8 pm.
We will be walking back to our vehicles in the dark. Please bring a flashlight. Kids welcome.

Ancient Redwoods at Jenner Headlands Preserve | Jenner Headlands Preserve

Despite a century of logging operations, including clear-cutting, there remains reminders of the forest's original granduer. This 6 mile guided hike will take us to areas not normally open to the public to seek out the remaining old-growth and learn about our efforts to restore the forest and its important ecological functions.

For this event, we will be focusing on habitat restoration by establishing native plants species in their wetland habitat.
Conservation work needs active and ongoing participation by everyone. Get to know the Jenner Headlands Preserve in a more connected way, by getting your hands in the dirt, your sweat in the soil, and the salt air in your lungs.
Come lend a hand and make some new friends!
Light refreshments, work gloves, and hand tools will be provided.

Come out and enjoy the incredible spring wildflowers on the Preserve!
During our hike we will stroll through and learn about the amazing diversity of wildflowers within the Jean Schulz Wildflower Meadow located in the coastal prairie grasslands. Each year, acres upon acres of goldfields (Lasthenia californica) stretch out across the hills above Jenner providing quite a show. With redwood forest and the Pacific Ocean as their backdrop, there is much for you to see and explore. This easy guided walk will be about a mile with 100' of elevation gain.

Hikers will meet Preserve staff at our Gateway to the Headlands parking lot on Highway 1, two miles north of Jenner. From there we will carpool up our private road to the trail head. The destination is the display of unique CA native wildflowers blooming in the shallow serpentine soils along our wildflower loop trail.

Come out and enjoy the incredible spring wildflowers on the Preserve!
During our hike we will explore and learn about the incredible native wildflower displays of our coastal prairie grasslands. Each year, acres upon acres of goldfields (Lasthenia californica) stretch out across the hills above Jenner providing quite a show. With redwood forest and the Pacific Ocean as their backdrop, there is much for you to see and explore. This moderately challenging 5-mile roundtrip hike will ascend more than 900 feet in elevation and include dazzling views of the Sonoma Coast and Lower Russian River (on a clear day!) Come join the fun and explore the headlands.
