For Ages 11-17
The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is the perfect setting for boys and girls involved in scouting to earn the merit badge in railroading, working with historic artifacts and model trains.
This day-long workshop features various railroad-themed activities, including tours, demonstrations and a G-scale model railroad simulation.
All requirements are fulfilled in a single day (there are no prerequisites). A unique Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania “Railroading Merit Badge” patch is an extra reward for participants who complete the workshop with us.
Scouts must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Every effort is made to adhere to the schedule and BSA policy, so please arrive on time. Space is limited.
The workshop is capped at 25 scouts and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
A 2 Pack Ticket (1 Individual Scout and 1 Accompanying Adult) is $24.00, and a 4 Pack Ticket (3 Individual Scouts and 1 Accompanying Adult) is $54.00. The ticket packs as listed are firm. Please note that we cannot change the ticket packs.
No memberships, discounts and/or coupons apply to fees for the workshop. Registration is required and is guaranteed when payment is received. No refunds.
Lunch is on your own.
Scouts are asked to wear class "A" or "B" uniforms.
Actual merit badge patches must be provided by the participant’s troop or council.

Join us for Sensory Hour at the Railroad Museum of PA! The museum will reduce lighting, sounds, and maintain a low attendance. We will have “quiet spaces” for breaks, and a few trains open with museum staff present to answer questions.
Sensory Hour attendees are welcome to stay after the Museum opens to the public at 10 AM, but please note that the sensory-friendly environment will not be maintained, and can be very busy.
This date: Join us during Sensory Hour for StoryTime with the Educator in Stewart Junction Education Center at 9:30 AM. There will be a special story reading and related craft. Details on book title and craft description will follow at a later date.

Bill McClintock’s Frontline Basketball Camp continues the legacy of his Hall Of Fame coach Pete Newell. The world renowned clinician has dedicated his life to teaching fundamentals and footwork to young basketball players. The ability to read and react is a key component to the Newell methodology taught at the University of California where McClintock was a three year letterman. His part to whole teaching method begins with individual skills and culminates with game concepts and spacing. Considered America's Basketball Guru , Coach Pete Newell’s teachings at the University of California became the cornerstones of the Big Man’s Camps, where Coach Bill McClintock worked for over a decade alongside his former coach. From 2001 until 2008, Pete Newell and Bill McClintock opened and operated “Pete Newell's Tall Women's Basketball Camp following a simple sentence serving as a summary of its intentions: The Pete Newell Tall Women's Basketball Camp goal is to continue to do what Pete Newell has done his whole life-to teach the fundamentals and footwork of the game of basketball to young players. Former attendees of the Pete Newell Tall Women’s Camp include 11 players who have have played in the WNBA and dozens professionally overseas. The camp’s distinguished alumna also includes student-athletes from over 140 intercollegiate basketball programs. Since 1976, camps that Bill McClintock has worked have provided NBA, WNBA, aspiring college players and international basketball players the opportunity to focus on footwork, spacing and fundamentals, while concentrating on reading the defense. During the Barons and Builders day camp, attendees will explore historic railroad equipment not usually open to the public, learn about the collections we have stored at the Museum, take a ride on the historic Strasburg Rail Road, construct a Lionel model boxcar, and more! Led by RRMPA staff.

This is a class geared toward beginning horse enthusiasts. We use ponies for our instruction. This is a one day class that will focus on the age groups of 3-5 year olds, 6-8 year olds, and 9 and up. These sessions are dedicated to learning the basics of horsemanship. The children will get to ride, but most importantly, safety, grooming, and horse terminology will be introduced. There will be pony a related craft. A small snack will be provided. Parents are welcome to participate, especially with the younger group, but not required. A detailed schedule of the day will be sent out to the attendees prior to the event. A certificate of completion will be provided to your child. There is a minimum number of participants needed to hold the class. Class is held July 12 from 10am-12pm. NO RAIN DATE.
Registration closes July 1, or when full. Cost is $75 for the first child and $65 for each additional sibling.

A little about our instructors... Ms. Lipovsky is the owner of Hogback Mountain Pony Rides. She has been around horses her whole life. She has a masters degree in education. Ms. Lipovsky is first aid and cpr certified.

Early bib pickup will be available Friday evening from 5 - 7:30 during the ribeye dinner at the park.
On-Site Registration & bib pick up will be from 6:30am - 7:15am in the Strasburg Community Building on Saturday, July 12th. The 5K race will begin at 7:30am on the west side of the bank. The 5K will follow the same route as 2023.
The 1 mile fun run will leave a few minutes AFTER the start of the 5K. The two routes will be clearly marked with volunteers to help direct! *Please note the 7:30 start!
Earlier start = lower temps! HOPEFULLY!! 🤞🏻 Online Registration: $30 for the 5K (+Shirt) *$5 discount for student athletes! I would LOVE to see some younger participants!! $15 for the 1 Mile (+Shirt) Shirt included IF registered by Friday, July 4th. Cannot guarentee shirt for race day if registered after. Please note: this summer camp session is for ages 11 and 12 ONLY. A separate in-person camp will be held Tuesday, July 8th- Friday, July 11th for campers ages 9 and 10.
Campers learn new skills, make friends and have fun during a 4 day, in-person summer camp, led by the Museum Educator and RRMPA Staff! During the Barons and Builders day camp, attendees will:
-Explore historic railroad equipment in special behind-the-scenes, guided tours,
-Learn about the collections and other treasures that we have at the Museum,
-Go on a trip to the Strasburg Railroad!
-Spend a class period with a special guest, who will engage campers in their career related to railroading/model railroading,
-Receive a Lionel model boxcar for a guided craft project! Campers will learn about railroad logos and learn how to create their own using basic principles of graphic design!
-Collaborate with other campers to solve challenges and interact in a safe, guided manner,
-Receive a camp t-shirt for the 2025 season.
Parents/guardians will receive materials in the mail requesting sizes, etc. in addition to other info- please see description near bottom of page.
