Book signing to follow. Oyinkan Braithwaite is a graduate of Creative Writing and Law from Kingston University. Following her degree, she worked as an assistant editor at Kachifo and has been freelancing as a writer and editor since. She has had short stories published in anthologies and has also self published work. In 2014, she was shortlisted as a top ten spoken word artist in the Eko Poetry Slam and in 2016 she was a finalist for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize. She lives in Lagos, Nigeria. Her debut novel was originally published in Nigeria as an e-book with the title Thicker Than Water in 2017 before being released as My Sister the Serial Killer in 2018. It became a Sunday Times bestseller, The Times #1 bestseller, was longlisted for the Booker Prize 2019, shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction 2019, a Between The Covers Book Club Pick 2023, and a Capital Crime Debut Author of the Year 2019. Tessa Hadley is the author of eight highly praised novels, Accidents in the Home , which was longlisted for the Guardian First Book Award, Everything Will Be All Right , The Master Bedroom , The London Train, Clever Girl , The Past , Late in the Day, Free Love and four collections of stories, Sunstroke , Married Love, Bad Dreams and After the Funeral . She won the Windham Campbell Prize for Fiction in 2016, The Past won the Hawthornden Prize for 2016, and Bad Dreams won the 2018 Edge Hill Short Story Prize. Her stories appear regularly in the New Yorker . The Party is an irresistible novella which tells thestory of two sisters and a night that changes everything, from the master chronicler of our heart’s hidden desires. Tory Young is an Associate Professor of English Literature at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, where she teaches and publishes on 20-21st-century literature. In 2021, she began a collaboration with the National Centre for Writing, developing an ongoing series of life-writing seminars for participants aged 70+ called A Life Written . Tory is currently editing a collection of essays about female friendship, and writing about 21st-century novels in which women voluntarily retreat to bed for a year. The Foundation Block is aimed at those new to flow cytometry and those wanting to understand the basics of the technology before attending further Building Blocks. This can be taken as a standalone one day course or can be taken as a building block for the next courses. The course starts with an introduction to this quickly evolving technology, its importance and resources that are available. One of the main aims of this course is to give the delegate a firm understanding of fluorescence, fluorochromes and the workings of a cytometer. This is followed by talks on fluorescence compensation, sample preparation, basics of experimental design, data analysis and reporting your flow cytometry data.
