The Most Perilous Comedie of Elizabeth I - at Kedleston Hall National Trust | National Trust - Kedleston Hall
Jun 19, 2025 (UTC+1)
Lower Derby
Elizabethan theatre is flourishing. But will a brand-new Tudor musical romp, in which Good Queen Bess takes to the stage herself, be the making of this heroine or spell the beginning of her downfall?
The stage is set for regicidal rivalries, devious dramatics, and plotting playwrights. Beset by misunderstandings and a script that…let’s just say…needs some work, this production promises to be largely historical, always hysterical.
As the old saying goes…thy show must go-eth on!
★★★★★ – “So entertaining…laugh-out-loud funny”
★★★★★ – “Riotously fun. Hugely enjoyable”
★★★★★ – “The ultimate British theatrical experience” – Hastings Independent Press
★★★★★ – “Great fun for the whole family…my kids are still talking about it!”

The Fear of Overtourism | The Brunswick Inn
Jun 26, 2025 (UTC+1)
Lower Derby
In recent years our holidays have been blamed as contributing to a range of social problems. Tourists, apparently, push up rents, diminish culture and behave badly - so much so that protests in popular destinations such as Barcelona, Tenerife and Majorca seem set to become an annual occurrence. Air travel - the principle means of global tourism - is viewed as immoral by 'No Fly' campaigns and Just Stop Oil activists. Meanwhile the new middles classes of economically growing countries such as China and India are increasingly doing what wealthy people have always done - spending their disposable income on holidays. What's the truth about so called 'overtourism', and what does the future hold for our holidays?
Speaker: Jim Butcher is a lecturer at Canterbury Christ Church University. He edits the
Tourism's Horizon: Travel for the Millions
blog, blogs at
Politics of Tourism
, and is currently writing his fourth book on the politics of holidays.

Ultimate Irish Dance Experience | Vaillant Live, DERBY | Becketwell Live
Jul 1, 2025 (UTC+0)
Lower Derby
Created by Armstrong Dance, with original new music from Golden Globe-nominated composer Brian Byrne (
Heartbeat of Home
),
Celtic Throne—Psalter of Ireland
is guaranteed to be an experience unlike any other!
Celtic Throne
reflects the wide-ranging talents and interests of its creators and dancers. First and foremost, it’s an Irish dance show, with plenty of the fancy footwork and formidable stomps made world-famous by iconic shows like
Riverdance,
Lord of the Dance
and
Heartbeat of Home
. “We adore these shows; they are an inspiration,” says director Brad Macdonald. “We wouldn’t be doing this if these amazing productions hadn’t blazed the trail for us. But
Celtic Throne
is totally unique—we are blazing our own trail!”
Watching beautiful, happy children, some as young as 7 and 8, dancing and playing music will melt your heart. Sensational gymnastics and martial arts will have you on the edge of your seat and remind you of watching the Olympics. Our live musicians electrify even the most reserved audiences, transporting them to a cozy Irish pub. The dance and music are enhanced by stunning costumes, an elaborate set, sensational lighting and special effects, and dramatic video storytelling on a gigantic, state-of-the-art LED screen.
“Imagine taking a classic Irish dance show and blending it with a West End musical and a Hollywood movie,” says Macdonald. “This is what we have done with
Celtic Throne—Psalter of Ireland.
You won’t find better value for your money—it’s three experiences in one!”
Our dancers range in age from 5 to 25. The troupe is comprised mostly of students from the Carey Academy, some of whom have placed highly in Worlds, All Irelands, Great Britain and North American Nationals, and other top Irish dance competitions.

May 1, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Lower Derby
Speed dating in Derby is a fun and easy way to meet new people whilst having an awesome and sociable night out.
Join this event and you'll meet around 15 people for a series of short speed dates which last around 4 minutes each - the perfect length of time to decide if you want to see someone again for a proper date in the future.
After the event, you'll have access to our unique online matching system. Use it to find out who you mutually matched with and to message people to arrange a proper date in the future.
Original Dating events are guaranteed - We're sure you'll meet people you want to see again but if you don't your next event is free.
Important information
This event takes place in the downstairs bar. Please head downstairs where the host will meet you on arrival.
- Doors open 7.00 pm
- Event starts 7.30 pm
- Speed dating finishes at approximately 9.30 pm
- Venue closes 11.30 pm
It’s essential that you arrive before 7.25 pm in order to take part. We might not be able to allow entry if you are late.
How it works
When you arrive at the hottest venue in town you’ll be met by our friendly host. After a quick introduction explaining the night, you'll be straight onto your first date.
Each date will last around 4 minutes, the perfect amount of time to get to know someone and not that long to just have a chat, if not.
Girls stay at the same table throughout the evening and guys move around the room.
The following day you can select your matches, 'yes' 'no' or 'friend' and by 5pm you'll find out who you've matched with and be off on a date in no time. It's really that simple.
We'll have a short break halfway through for you to top up your drinks.
After the event
Once everyone has met everyone your host will round up the event but that doesn't mean the night is over, there will be plenty of time to chat some more after the event.

Hey, Derby!
When was the last time you did something completely spontaneous? Our series groups together complete strangers for a fun day out. That's right, you sign up, and we book the restaurant. We know life can get busy. Don't forget to spend time making new friends! Don't do city life alone and build your community with us. This project is to host dinners in 200 cities to combat loneliness while supporting locally owned businesses. We are dedicating 25% of sales towards charity or GoFundMe pages at the end of each month.
This micro-event is intended to be for 4 people maximum. Check out our feature in
Eventbrite's 2025 TRNDS report
about embracing the micro-event trend.
How does it work?
-After you register, you'll be emailed an introduction message including a quick questionnaire regarding
age, dietary restrictions, hobbies, and interests
that we use to select restaurants for the night's group.
-At the end of the month, we'll share sales reports with attendees and detail how we are utilizing 25% of sales towards social good.

Health & Wealth: How to make small consistent steps, to get BIG results!
Most business owners put everything into their businesses, sacrificing personal time, their health and their personal financial position. The drive for business success at-any-cost is not usually sustainable, having wealth with poor health could impact the lifestyle that you want to achieve and having health without money reduces your options in life, could impact the lifestyle that you want to achieve too. The talk is all about the harmony between keeping healthy and building wealth in a conscious, intentional and sustainable way to help you live your best lives.
Our two speakers are:
Talita Buckers, Owner and Lead Practioner, 2B PhysioFit & Well
With over 30 years in musculoskeletal (MSK) health, including 11 years running her own clinic, Talita helps individuals over 50 maintain their physical, mental, and social well-being to live life to the fullest. She also works with Occupational Health and Health and Safety departments, particularly in clayware and brickwork factories, to reduce absenteeism and improve employee retention.
Here’s how Talita can help:
Re-Ignite Health Pension Programme: A proactive approach to healthy aging.
1:1 MSK Therapy & Consultancy: Personalized care for mobility, pain, and strength.
Workplace MSK Support: On-site therapy to reduce absenteeism and improve retention.
Thomas Clarke, Senior Associate at Brown Shipley will be sharing insights on how to make your money work harder and build wealth whilst running a business. With consistent, small steps and consideration of your personal goals, a financial plan can prevent you from financially sleep-walking!
Thomas helps individuals and families put their whole financial house in order, aligning cash, pensions, investments to the goals that matter to them, building wealth and creating sustainable income strategies.
