St. Paul’s Lutheran School is hosting their annual soccer camp June 2-June 5, at Central Ridge District Park located on Lecanto Hwy (Hwy 491). The camp is for children from entering grades Kindergarten through Grade 8 and will run from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Students may arrive 15 minutes prior to the start up. Your children will learn a variety of soccer skills along with experiencing success through team work. Your children will experience some great coaching as each day they work on specific skills in soccer and as they also learn truths of God’s Word. All the participants will receive a soccer ball, water bottle, and soccer t-shirt. For safety, we would like all kids to wear shin guards. Soccer shoes are optional. We will play through light rain, but in the event of a lightning storm, we will usher all children to the overhang by the concession stand. We will wait for parents or proper guardians to come and pick them up. If a participant is feeling sick, please keep them home to avoid spreading anything contagious. On Thursday, June 5, all parents are invited to come watch their children in action as they compete in soccer games. We will also be hosting a family Picnic on that Thursday after the games. All parents and families are invited to join us for the games and the picnic. The games will start at 10 a.m. and the picnic will start when the games are over (around 11:15). The extraordinary journalists Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson examine a slew of social problems in their new book, Abundance-- problems that were actually created by solutions dreamed up decades ago by sometimes well-meaning legislation. Solutions that might have seemed perfectly sensible a generation or two ago have actually been force multipliers for problems we're looking at right now. Take housing shortages. The housing crisis strangling cities across the country are the result of density zoning laws that decades ago made sense. Los Angeles, for example, enacted strict anti-density regulations, and we fought long and hard against looking like New York.
