Welcome to the MiGirl MOM WALK (with heart)! This is not just to honor and remember moms - we walk for any and all we love and miss - including pups, guys, etc. lol!
This event is a walk for women with lots of LAUGHTER in honor of those we love! The mood is upbeat and loving - we will remember the best of those we miss!
A portion of proceeds goes to the Smith Family Breast Health Center.
This event takes place on the trails of Timber Ridge Resort in Traverse City. There will be a 1 mile trail hike. Along the way, you'll find fun booths and people to celebrate with. There will be complimentary wine tastings, food and swag.
The tone of this event is not sad - but rather loving, playful and joyful! We will gather at the banquet hall for registration and for an opening ceremony. I will read the "Pieces of our Heart" List aloud to the group - when you register, please list the person's name you would like to have me read! This event is inspired by my mom, who I lost to breast cancer in 2007 - but this is not just a cancer or moms walk - we will celebrate all those we LOVE and have different colored wands to represent different awareness ribbons for other illnesses.
Wine Tastings & Fuzzy Navels:
There will be wine tastings along the route. Plus, my mom loved fuzzy navels. So will you.
Signs:
Write what you love (or remember) most about your loved one and post it on the board to share.

: An ode to my mom, Judy! There will be music — Elvis & The Beach Boys, of course.

There are restrooms on the boat.

At the first driveway north of the entrance to the pier, turn left into the Discovery Center Collaborative Building Parking lot and proceed to the gravel lot on the south side of the building. There is a relatively short walk to the boat. Please use the crosswalk in front of the Great Lakes Children's Museum.
Handicap parking and drop off is available at the Discovery Pier with additional parking at the end of the pier.

Whether you're a seasoned boater or just dipping your toes into navigation, this event is perfect for learning more about charting your course with GPS. Our expert instructors will guide you through the ins and outs of navigation tools, so you can sail the (inland) seas with confidence. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to enhance your boating skills!
Students will learn how to interpret a nautical chart and navigate on the Great Lakes using basic coastal piloting techniques. You will also learn about basic GPS and navigational skills, and how to use computer electronic charts. Class will meet on Thursday, May 15 from 5 – 9 pm at the Traverse City Coast Guard station. Plotting tools and iPads will be provided for use during the class. Preregister by May 13 and Online Cost is $23.18 ( $20 + $3.18 Eventbrite fees).

Have you ever wondered how bonsai are created? Join us for an interactive, hands-on course designed for adults interested in exploring the incredible art and fascinating science of bonsai. Try something new and expand your understanding of the botanical world!
You'll create your own bonsai starter using a native American Tamarack tree, with all tools and instructions provided. Rod and Janet Kivell from the Sakura Bonsai Society will guide you step-by-step as you craft your very own mini masterpiece.

This class will be led by Rod and Janet Kivell, members of the Sakura Bonsai Society. The Society was founded in 1990 by Traverse City local Eunice Corp, who discovered her passion for bonsai while living in Hawaii. Today, the group continues to share her enthusiasm and dedication for this beautiful and intricate art form.
