AcroCamp 2025 | Camp Tuckabatchee, North 35th Road, Ottawa, IL, USA
Jul 31–Aug 3, 2025 (UTC-6)
Ottawa
AcroCamp believes in the extraordinary power of human connection through physical artistry and trust. Nestled in the serene embrace of nature, our camp is a unique retreat that combines the dynamic practices of AcroYoga, acrobatics, and the healing arts, set against the backdrop of the great outdoors. We’re not just a place to learn AcroYoga, fire spinning, aerial circus arts, or acrobatics. It’s a portal to a wilder, deeper way of living, where nature ignites your spirit and community becomes your family. So, pack your enthusiasm, leave your worries behind, and experience the magic of AcroCamp. AcroCamp is not your run-of-the-mill summer camp – it’s a journey back to the carefree days reminiscent of National Lampoon movies. Over 150 acres of hills and valleys, rustic cabins in the main camp, a lodge with a heartwarming stone hearth, and a modern kitchen, the kind of place you’d reminisce about with a nostalgic smile. We’re your home away from home, where Crooked Leg Creek’s lullabies blend with laughter around the campfire. But what truly sets us apart is the human connection. We’re not just a camp; we’re a community, handcrafted by you and for you. It’s where old friends reunite, and new friendships are born. A safe space to share your knowledge, learn from others, and, above all, to be your true self. We invite you to join us, whether you’re returning or discovering us for the first time – experience, connect, and create, just as it always has been.

Tour of the Gully Restoration at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden | Fletcher Wildlife Garden
Aug 9, 2025 (UTC-4)
Ottawa
In 2015, the FWG gully, visible from Prince of Wales Drive, was full of comfrey mixed with dog-strangling vine. That first summer, a few of these very invasive species were replaced with patches of Joe Pye Weed and Swamp Milkweed. Each year, more invasives were removed and more native wildflowers that like moist soil were planted: Swamp Aster, Culver’s Root, Flat-topped Aster, Blue Flag Iris, Cardinal Flower, Bottle Gentian, and many more.
Now that most of the comfrey and DSV is gone, we can see that the gully and its slopes offer various habitats, both sunny and shady and wet to dry. This has allowed volunteers to expand the variety of species that were planted. As the biodiversity of plants has increased, so has the variety of animal life: butterflies, bees, frogs, snakes, hummingbirds, and so on.
Ten years on, the gully continues to be a haven for monarchs.
Bee researcher Lydia Wong will be on hand to identify pollinators and explain their needs and habits.
Meet at the main parking area beside the baseball diamond.

What is 5* Show Jumping?
5* show jumping is the highest level of international equestrian competition. This elite category demands exceptional skill, precision, and the ability to clear challenging courses filled with intricate obstacles. The
CSI5
* rating signifies the ultimate in competitive show jumping – a true test of strength, agility, and performance.
How Does Show Jumping Work?
Riders must navigate a course of obstacles, aiming to clear each jump without knocking down rails or refusing.
The goal is to complete the course with the least number of
faults
in the fastest time!
Faults and elimination can occur in few ways:
A knock-down, lowering the height of a jump or failing to clear the white tape on a water jump, is penalized with
4 faults
.
The first refusal to jump a fence is penalized with
4 faults
.
A second refusal to results in
elimination
.
Exceeding the time allowed is penalized with
1 fault
for every 1 second over
the time allowed.
Falling off while on course results in
elimination
.
Going off course, jumping the fences out of the correct order, also results in
elimination
.
Don't miss the jump off!
Those with no faults in the first round will move on to the jump-off where they will compete over a shortened course. The goal is to clear the course in the fastest time possible without penalties.
It's an exciting, high-pressure moment where speed and precision are crucial to securing victory!
