There will be a petting zoo, vendors, lawn games, a BBQ hosted by the Smiths Falls Firefighter's Association, bouncy castle, axe throwing and a performance from Junkyard Symphony! Please note that waivers will be signed on site for axe throwing.
This event is admission by donation with a few things for purchase (vendor's items, food, and the axe throwing).

Victims and Survivors of Crime Week (May 11-17, 2025)
Award winning author and TedX international speaker Shannon Moroney will speak about the impactful world of restorative justice and how advocacy can serve as a bridge to understanding and reconciliation in communities
.
Shannon highlights her experiences as an advocate and the successes of restorative practices in various settings. Audiences will leave equipped with insights into how they can actively participate in and promote justice and healing in their own communities and beyond.
Lanark County Community Justice
is hosting two talks by Shannon during Victims and Survivors of Crime Week 2025.

This free event is open to all: Professionals who work with victims/survivors of crime, parents, caregivers, student councils, educators, municipal representatives, justice service providers (police, legal, crown) and victim/survivor service providers and victims and survivors of crime and those who have been impacted by crime.
Registration is required as space is limited.
There will be time for questions after the talk.
Central to Shannon’s journey and advocacy, “Trust Is Not a Crime” explores key issues in justice, victimhood, and mental health. Shannon navigates the justice system both as a victim and as collateral damage, confronting the harsh realities of shame and stigma. Her mission became clear: to advocate for a more compassionate and equitable system for all victims. Recently given as a well-known TEDx Talk, Shannon delves into the importance of empathy, understanding, and trust as actionable principles to bridge the gap between victims and offenders. Through her experiences, she highlights the potential for healing and transformation within our justice system, advocating for approaches that honor the dignity of all involved and emphasize healing over punishment.
