Much Ado About Nothing is one of Shakespeare's greatest romantic comedies. This classic tells the love story of Claudio, Hero, Beatrice and Benedick. BREAKING GROUND | Oxford University Museum of Natural History
Oct 18, 2024–Sep 29, 2025 (UTC)
Oxford
Through the expansive finding of fossils and development of new techniques and methods, the 19th century transformed our understanding of the history of Earth. Breaking Ground explores these themes through William Buckland, geologist and palaeontologist, and Mary Buckland (née Morland), a scientific illustrator, the couple at the heart of this exhibition. They both helped to establish new scientific methods and ideas, which led to fascinating discoveries in palaeontology, including the first ever dinosaur to be named to science.

Microsculpture The insect photography of Levon Biss | Oxford University Museum of Natural History
Apr 3, 2025–Jan 4, 2026 (UTC)
Oxford
The stunning high magnification insect portraits by British photographer Levon Biss were first shown in the Microsculpture exhibition in this Museum in 2016. Since then, the show has toured to 44 cities in 22 countries around the world.
All the specimens in Microsculpture are drawn from the Museum's entomology collections, selected to show the microscopic form of insects in striking large-format, high-resolution detail. In this new temporary exhibition we are able to show images made after the original 2016 display. New text explores how and why each specimen originally entered the Museum's collection, painting a picture of professional and amateur collectors, entomological traders, British colonial links, and changes in scientific practice.

Amie McNee WE NEED YOUR ART with Bev Wass | Blackwell's Bookshop
Aug 16, 2025 (UTC+0)
Oxford
We Need Your Art Using her own experiences as a novelist and the inspiration she's shared as a creative coach, Amie guides you on why we need your art and how you can make it happen - starting with a two-week reset plan to help you kick-start your creative habit. This isn't about writing your great novel in a month or painting a masterpiece in a flurry of inspiration. Rather, this process is about practicing small, sustainable creative steps every day over time - five hundred words of writing each day, a pencil sketch every evening - so that you avoid burnout, produce consistent, reliable content on your own terms, and begin to see yourself as an artist.
With frank and empowering conversations on the many issues creatives face, including impostor syndrome, perfectionism, procrastination, and the inner critic, as well as invitations to coronate yourself and celebrate your ambition, Amie provides the framework and encouragement you need to begin to take your art seriously. Each chapter also includes journal prompts that help you apply what you have learned to your new life.
We Need Your Art is a revolutionary reprogramming of everything we have been taught and told about being a creative, removing the shame and fear we may feel at dubbing ourselves artists and inviting us to create proudly, with celebration. This book is a warm hug, a pep talk, the wise teacher you always wanted, the loving parent you needed, and the fire in your belly that you need to get roaring. Amie McNee Amie McNee is an author, speaker and creative coach. Amie studied medieval history at university, focussing specifically on sex culture, sex work and pornography. Alongside her historical fiction, Amie has written four much loved books all of which discuss the realities and magic of leading a creative life. Amie is known for speaking, teaching and coaching artists all over the world and helping them to achieve their creative dreams. Beverley Wass Bev is a full-time bookseller at Blackwell's Oxford and a creative and inspirational person. Bev has also chaired events with Jennifer Lane on 'The Witches' Survival Guide' and Laura Derbyshire on crafting and creating your own grimoire.
