Attendees will have have the opportunity to sing 4-part harmony, enjoy a short performance by the chorus, and meet fellow music-lovers within their community. As a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, we belong to a network of over 600+ choruses worldwide. We are passionate about spreading joy through music, empowering and uplifting one another, and enriching the communities we serve. WHO CAN SING WITH US?Colorado Spirit Chorus is open to women and non-binary singers ages 12 and up (minors must be accompanied by a guardian). We welcome singers of all ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds, and people with disabilities. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced singer, our chorus has a place for you. FAQsWHAT TO WEARDress comfortably in clothes that support movement and deep breathing. Avoid anything hot or constraining. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes. ​ WHERE TO GOWe rehearse at 7100 South Boulder Rd, Boulder, CO 80303 (Boulder Valley Christian Church; please note that although our rehearsal space is in a church, we are not a religious organization). Our entrance is through the office door on the Northwest side of the building, so it is best to park on the far right side of the parking lot near the large field. Our rehearsal venue offers accessible parking and is located on the ground floor, making it accessible for all. SAY HELLOBe sure to RSVP to let us know you're coming. Our New Member team will be standing by to greet you at the entrance. We'll answer questions and guide you through your visit. GUEST MUSICWe'll check out a Guest Music folder for you to reference during rehearsals. If you don't know how to read music, don't worry, it's not required! Please be sure to return your music at the end of the night. If you decide to move forward in your audition process, you'll also receive a Guest Log in to access a special section of our Members Only website that offers sheet music and audio learning tracks. WARM UPSWe begin every rehearsal with stretching and gentle body movement to physically prepare our bodies for singing and alignment. It's a great way to shake off the day, stretch out tired muscles and prepare for excellent posture on the risers. After physical warm ups our focus shifts to guided vocal warm ups. Comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended. VOCAL ASSESSMENTWe'll share some background about the qualities and structure of vocal parts in barbershop music, and conduct an informal vocal assessment to help you identify which part may be the best fit with your range. ​ PARTICIPATE IN REHEARSALThe best way to experience our music and culture is by jumping right in, so there will be many opportunities for you to sing with the chorus! Once you've identified a vocal part, we'll help you find a spot near a helper who sings the same vocal part. ​ ENJOY A SHORT PERFORMANCEIf you visit during an Open House, we'll invite you to take a seat in the audience so that our singers may perform a few of our favorite numbers for you to enjoy. This is a great way to get a sense of our overall sound and how music and movement work together for our chorus. ​ PATHWAY TO MEMBERSHIPReady to take the next steps? About the hostBine Roth (Tutor of Textiles MA) Bine Roth is a material specialist and jewellery designer.They hold a BA in Jewellery and an MA in Textiles and Mixed Media from the Royal College of Art. She combines a knowlegde of jewellery with textiles and technology. She has worked with jewellery designers Scott Wilson and Saskia Diez and the innovative London-based design consultancy Hirsch & Mann, while co-directing the business Peut-Porter. Her strengths and interests lie in combining traditional materials with contemporary techniques in future-facing production and material making. Through her research, she explores the body in the digital age, developing materials, textiles and artefacts using digital and bespoke manufacturing skills. Bine has experience of and expertise in smart textiles, engaging with VR/AR projects and has worked on international community and public engagement projects. Bine has previously taught, lectured and held workshops at institutions in the UK and internationally. Explore the street art of East Boulder with Street Wise Arts! We cover murals created by local and national artists during our annual mural festival. Learn more about our organization, street art culture, and the various social justice causes championed by Street Wise artists. Bonus: many murals are activated in augmented reality and we'll show you how to bring them to life. Tours run for approx. 2 hours and cover approx. 8-10 miles. We end our tour at VisionQuest Brewing - tour participants receive $2 beers with their tickets! Tour participants must bring their own bikes; Street Wise Arts does not provide bikes.
