This course is designed specifically for beginners who want to go beyond day hikes and experience the freedom of backpacking. You’ll walk away with the knowledge, confidence, and inspiration to plan your own backcountry trips!

Trip Details
Trail Distance:
Approximately 6 miles
Elevation Gain:
Around 1,900 feet
Difficulty:
Moderate
Hiker Requirement:
Must be comfortable hiking at least 5 miles with some elevation gain
Trail is subject to change based on weather and conditions.

Pre-Trip: Two Virtual Zoom Sessions
Backpacking Basics: Gear, Packing, and Trip Planning
What to Expect on Your First Backpacking Trip
In-Person: Overnight Backpacking Trip (2 Days, 1 Night)
Meet at a designated location and carpool to the trailhead
Pack your backpack with expert guidance before hitting the trail
Hike to camp while learning navigation, safety, and trail etiquette
Set up camp, cook a backcountry meal, and filter water from a natural source
Enjoy an evening under the stars, connecting with nature and fellow adventurers
Pack up and hike out, leaving no trace behind
Small Group Experience:
Limited to 5 participants for a personalized experience
All-Inclusive Cost: $350
Everything you need is provided—just show up and start your adventure!
This experience includes:
High-quality backpacking gear:
backpack, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, tent, stove, cookware, and water filter (or bring your own if you prefer)
All meals:
breakfast, lunch, and dinner—so you can fuel up without the hassle
Permits & Fees:
including a California Forest Adventure Annual Pass for carpooling

Meet Your Guide
Nikki Taylor
– is an outdoor instructor and hiking guide with over 10 years of experience in the outdoors. She is Wilderness First responder and a Leave No Trace Trainer; is trained in Maps & Navigation and is also certified in Food Handling.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
Full refunds available up to two weeks before the trip. After that, no refunds will be issued. If you need to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, reach out and we will try to accommodate ticket transfers.
If the instructor cancels, you will receive a full refund.
Weather does not automatically result in trip cancellation. Participants will be notified of any changes.
COVID-19 Policy
We highly recommend staying up to date on vaccinations. Per CDC guidelines, masks are not required outdoors. If you feel unwell or have been exposed to COVID-19 within 14 days of the trip, please do not attend.
