WIT Presents: Boy Band, with support from Disco Disco Impro!
About Boy Band:
Cult icons and definitely teenage heartthrobs “Boy Band” are finishing their globetrotting world tour with an intimate gig in Woking. Join pop stars Jools Jacuzzi, Ray Jay Jay Jay, and Hugh Way for this top secret (shhh!) show by a musical comedy pop sensation so massive you probably haven’t heard of them … yet.
Boy Band want to get real about their feelings. They want to share their deepest secrets. They want to change their costumes. With your help and the power of three part harmony, they believe Boy Band can change the world. All they need you to do is open your hearts and let them touch your feelings.
Boy Band was developed in
Soho Theatre’s Comedy Plus Lab
and was performed as a work in progress at Brighton Fringe 2024. It premiered in London at the Camden People's Theatre and is now coming to Woking, for one night only.
In Broadway Baby's words:
'**** An hilarious, harmonious and surprisingly heartfelt comedy,'
Boy Band was created by
Bike Folds Three,
a comedy production company founded by Michael Kunze, Fergus Shipman, and Hugh Edwards.
Michael Kunze an award winning writer and performer. His musical comedy
“Lil Saffron: Ragu to Riches”
, with music by Hugh Edwards, received rave reviews at Edinburgh Fringe 2022, and transferred to Soho Theatre and the Pleasance. His solo debut, 2024’s
“Michael Kunze: Infinity Mirror”
, premiered
unofficially
in Woking for WIT, and then officially at Underbelly during the Edinburgh Fringe. It made
British Comedy Guide’s “Best Reviewed Edinburgh Fringe shows”
and then
transferred to Soho Theatre and the Pleasance.
About Disco Disco:
In this serialised improv comedy show, Disco Disco transport you back in time to northern Italy in the 1950s, where a wealthy 'Britalian' family are now living in their 19th Century lakeside villa, following a full family relocation from post-war Bristol. Some of the family speak Italian fluently, others are still learning; but something that unites them all - whether resident, servant or visiting amico cittadino - is their love for music and dance. With its foot-tapping '50s Italian-pop soundtrack, balletic interludes and spontaneous slapstick montages, la famiglia Disco deliver all the mystery, romance and scandal you’d expect from any classic, and deliciously addictive TV soap.
