Every living being since the dawn of time has gazed up at the same moon. A moon which inspired mythology, literature, religion, philosophy, science; a moon that directs migrations, tides, the movement of leaves, and perhaps even the blood in our veins. You will be hard pressed to find an artist untouched by the moon. These workshops are first and foremost about inspiration . Every month I bring words and materials, and we use them as prompts, as jumping off points into our own writing. Join us for the June Moon - also known as the Strawberry Moon, Planting Moon, Hatching Moon - who will this moon be to you? Suitable for every level of writing and every genre, whether you’re a dedicated moon-worshipper or someone who enjoys the simple awe of looking up into a night sky and finding light. ** Coco Lone Neal is an apprentice associate at the Writers Workshop and studying for an MA in Nature and Travel Writing. In a previous life she was a researcher on rivers, and you cannot look to water without also turning to the moon. image is by Maria Clara Eimmart (1676-1707), pastel on blue cardboard Information Source: The Writers Workshop | eventbrite

We're proud to be unveiling Sheffield's newest theatre company - Studio 13, a company comprised of professionally Meisner-trained actors. Come see our graduate group take the stage as they bring to life an eclectic and entertaining mixture of scenes both old and new. From Shakespeare to Succession, from Black Mirror to Ibsen, we've got something for everyone on this night of intimate and captivating performances - a smorgasbord of theatre including the classics and a smattering of new writing thrown in. The Meisner acting technique, originally developed by Sanford Meisner in the 1930s, is characterised by its attempt to bring truth, life, and reality to every moment an actor is performing, resulting in a strikingly honest and emotionally resonant performance. Studio 13 has been a noteworthy pole of Meisner actor training in the North of the UK since its opening in 2018, and we're very proud to be able to showcase what we've been working on during the past few years and present to you these nights of theatre that are sure to be memorable. Northern Parasol Presents | The Turncoats @ Hallamshire Hotel | Hallamshire Hotel

Northern Parasol was founded in amongst the satanic mills of Manchester in 2022. Manchester has a rich industrial heritage, it was home to the first inter-city railway line in the world, for example. Built in 1830, the first to operate exclusively with steam powered locomotives, it connected Manchester with Liverpool. Unfortunately, it has taken Northern Parasol nearly 3 years to realise trains still exist and we are hopping on one to the steel city, Sheffield, for our first ever gig outside of Greater Manchester! Sheffield has an equally rich musical heritage, so it makes sense to be heading there. We are very excited to be working with the Hallamshire Hotel, one of the best new spots for grassroots music in the country. One of Sheffield's finest talents, The Turncoats , are your headliners and we are thrilled to have them join us! Effortlessly stylish, impeccably talented and unashamedly anthemic, they are a rock'n'roll band that deliver more than this write up can promise. They are not to be missed. Joining them are local favourites, the grungey force of Atakarma and Manchester's very own hazy cocktail of riffs, blues and melody, Little Strange. Is this the way the future is meant to feel? I can't answer that question, but get a ticket and we will find out. Do you remember the first time? The first time Northern Parasol came to Sheffield? Well, that remains to be seen. Up The Movement. ==================================================================== Like all Northern Parasol events, we will be enforcing our Stop The Set policy. For more infomation, visit www.northernparasol.org/stoptheset. ==================================================================== Northern Parasol are delighted to have teamed up with the Music Venue Trust for all our events in 2025. You will have the option to donate directly to the MVT to help support the amazing work they do to support the UK music scene. Come and join me for my Mindful Walking Photography Workshop. An opportunity to slow down, breathe deeply, and immerse yourself in the present moment through the lens of your phone-camera. We'll meet inside the Winter Gardens at midday by the Millennium Gallery entrance at 12.00 noon. After an introduction, we'll move on to nearby locations. As we explore our surroundings in the centre of Sheffield, we'll learn to observe details, textures, and colours that often go unnoticed and will use photography as a tool to capture images and cultivate mindfulness. During the workshop I will encourage you not only to develop a different view of what you can see and how to capture this, but also to reflect on how by stopping, focussing in on detail, shape, structure and pattern, we can use photography to be fully present. To be aware of where we are and what we're doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed. You will leave the workshop with techniques and ideas for taking great photos and a greater understanding of how to bring mindfulness into your life through taking great photos! Also included in this ticket price is an one hour, online editing workshop plus downloadable factsheet Information Source: Elaine G Photos | eventbrite
